Im with you! Our orginal budget was 15k for 150-180 people but adding in rings, honeymoon and a couple other small expenses we didnt think about we are now looking at 25k. Yea we can afford it but we didnt want to spend that much. All of your estimates look pretty reasonable too. I feel your pain 🙂

We basically changed venues because of this. (and that they didn’t have a plan B for rain) It sounds like you are building your reception. I was under the impression that an outdoor reception would be cheaper too. Then I started to add up all the rentals and the people you have to hire. We would have ended up spending $20k for an outside caterer (and a lot of them have minimums that you have to spend) rentals, paying extra for servers, bartenders, chefs, cheft assistants, DOC, ect it would have been way more than $10k.

Well that’s kind of scary!!  I have about 180 guest, and I’ve never added up all the cost, but looking at your indivdual break down, mine estimate/cost is about the same for most of them.  Oh boy… I think I’ll avoid adding up the cost as long as I can.

Our budget grew without permission as well. But it was worth it, yes it’s one day but you want to do it right! There are no do-overs.

I to am shocked. I thought i had a wedding budgeted to fit our $10K budget. After months of getting into planning and actually booking and meeting vendors our budget has gone up to $15K. At the moment we are sitting at about $15K for the whole day including everything from the ceremony to reception for 150 guests. I think thats still pretty decent. I couldn’t imagine going past that. Anything past this would be putting us into debt. At the moment we are lucky enough to have it all payed for. I am unwilling to go into debt for one frickin day even if it is our wedding. Enough is enough. We could have bought me a newer vehicle with all this money.

Yikes. So you’re not interested in cutting back then? I feel like we could definitely help you scale it back closer to what you had thought you wanted your budget to be, if you wanted suggestions…

I think it would be easy to cut the bar cost by not making it open bar. Why don’t you just pick a few drinks and serve those. Could save you lots of money.

This is a drop in the bucket, but you don’t have to do favors.
