Lastly is my DIY post 🙂 Here are some things I did to save money 🙂
I purchased a lot of stuff from Michaels or at online wholesalers. My jewelry all came from an online wholesaler, my ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket came from Michaels. My shoes were on sale at DSW.
I also used a $6 bouquet of mixed purple carnations for the flower girl basket. Huge savings and it looked super pretty.
I’m a designer, so I made my invites myself. I carried the theme throughout the wedding with our menus, place cards and table numbers.
I also designed lables and printed them out and placed them on inexpensive bottles of wine that I had purchased and removed the labels. It just happened to work out nicely that the top of the bottle matched well 🙂
I made the favors myself… and while I don’t have a pic of the truffles, here is what the tables looked like with the favors on them 🙂 I made oreo cookie truffles. Each box had one white and one dark chocolate. I used a mold from Michaels and then drizzled each with purple. Use the candy melts. They take 15 mins in the fridge. You can’t beat that.
I had been collecting wine bottles and corks to use for the centerpieces. The centerpieces were basically free… until I added faux grapes. That brought them up to about $8 per centerpiece. You can’t see in the picture but each of the outer bottles had a candle under it.
I had a TON of corks left over so I just started coming up with creative ways to use them. I originall bought a little vintage suitcase I had originally intended to use for giftcards. But then we repurposed it into a decoration for the gift table. Filled with corks and with 3 bottles set off to the side it was super elegant and pretty… too bad I didn’t get a better picture 🙂
I did not go with a super fance cake or cake stand. I used a wine box (free from your local wine store!). I went with a simple buttercream (not fondant) cake and provided the ribbon myself. It’s light in the first picture b/c the ribbon will darken as it sits against the buttercream. So buy lighter!! The cake topper was inexpensive and purchased online.
For the ceremony, I purchased the swag pictured here instead of made it. I just didn’t see there would be a big savings and I found it on ebay for like $29.
These I’m SUPER proud of. I made them 🙂 $75 and they were SO gorgeous.
And lastly, I didn’t do a guestbook. Instead I bought this frame from Michaels.
So whew! Pic overload. But I saved a lot of money by doing things myself and doing LOTS of hunting online 🙂
