I’ve posted on here tons about the ring drama I’ve had this past year. My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary two months ago and I never, ever, ever thought he would do anything romantic, especially not get me a new ring. I had a pink sapphire three stone ring made (that I posted about before) since I wanted something special to mark our anniversary but lo and behold, hubby surprised me with a new solitaire ring.
To give some background information, my first e-ring was a family ring that I loved when I received it, mostly because I was so happy to be engaged and I do like antique jewelry, but it really has no sentimental value to me in terms of it coming from his family – when we got engaged, we had no money and it was either the family ring from an aunt my husband didn’t know at all and who wasn’t particularly nice from what we heard or my MIL’s solitaire from a bad marriage that almost ended in divorce (only reason it didn’t was because my Father-In-Law died before divorce was final). My Mother-In-Law is evil and I didn’t want that ring at all, even though it was the style I loved. Plus, my husband and I have been through some rocky times the past ten years and in my mind, I wanted something new to mark a “new beginning” with us. I just didn’t think I would get my dream ring.
So…he surprised me with a simple solitaire, something I have ALWAYS wanted! It’s not big (just .72) but I LOVE it! And I found a beautiful, simple, thin wedding band (less than 2mm) that resembles tree bark (which has meaning to me since my maiden name means oaktree and it reminds me of my father that passed away). They are both made out of 19k white gold (no rhodium plating), which is nice since I don’t have to get them dipped.
So…I just had to share, especially since I just received the wedding band yesterday! I finally took some pictures of it this morning. I feel like in real life, I can’t share or get too excited with friends b/c they really don’t care but on here, I feel like I can get a bit more excited about my new rings!
Here are some pics…
