I love the idea of having a ‘Thank You’ parasol for pictures, but I absolutely REFUSE to pay $20 or more for one! so..I decided to tackle it myself. 🙂 I found a paper parasol at Hobby Lobby for $5.99. But wait!! That week they were 50% off! lol and so the story begins with my $3 paper parasol…
I saw tutorials on how to trace letters onto parasols so I decided to try it. I printed some pretty letters and cut them out. I taped them to the back of the parasol and planned on tracing them onto the front. Honestly, I could not get them to line up right! I taped and retaped for at least 30 minutes! It’s harder than it looks! Anyway, I decided to just use the T and the Y and free hand the rest. I taped them where they would look right and traced them with a light brown colored pencil. I started to paint the T but turns out, my little paintbrush was a P.O.S. There were bristle strokes everywhere! I gave up and got a sharpie out of the drawer. The sharpie bled a little but if you use really light strokes around the edges it looks really good! So..the only thing I paid for on this venture was the parasol. Everything else I had lying around the house!
