I spent the week leading up to the wedding doing a lot of last minute things but by friday it was all done, so I stayed the night at my maid of honours house (along with my 6 other bridesmaids). It was a good decision, we drank pink champagne and talked all evening.
I awoke at 5am the morning of my wedding, I was just too excited to sleep any longer. Luckily one of the other maids was up already as well. We curled up on the couch and drank coffee. It was raining outside but i was confident it would stop in time for my outdoor ceremony, it simply had to. My Maid/Matron of Honor put out a nice spread of fruit and berries for breakfast.
I DIY’d by bouquet so we spent some time getting that together, if I had to do it again i would have spent the $100 my florist was charging. In the end though, I liked my bouquet, it was good for a simple country wedding
Me, my Maid/Matron of Honor and mom all went to get our nails done and they kept me company while I got my makeup done. It was my first manicure, LOVED IT.
Back at the MOH’s house she did my hair and then she laced me into the dress. I was so pleased to see it all come together, the makeup, the hair, my pearls. I am not a person who EVER likes how I look so it was very nice feeling pretty.
My Maid/Matron of Honor drove me to the wedding with the photographer. We stopped some along the way to take pictures, some were in front of the worlds longest covered bridge.
When we finally arrived at the ceremoney site (my back yard), it was beautiful. They had put so many more little touches on and I loved it.
We got in our line up and started walking, my dad whispered to me as we walked, it kept me calm. I was so happy I thought my face might break from smiling so hard. Dad hugged me and then hugged Darling Husband, it was a nice touch.
Our ceremony was so beautiful, I laughed, I cried.. actually a lot of people cried. We wrote our own vows so it was nice to hear his, they were really sweet.
After the ceremony we gathered every person there (guests and all) together for a group shot, it was an idea i just loved. Then we did pictures for about an hour until supper. Supper was a very casual BBQ, corn boil and appies.
My dad played a set of music (he had written us a song that had every person in tears once again). Cut the cake, did the speeches and then it was band time. The band played until 1am. We had a big bonfire and people played music around that until 5:30 in the morning (although i ducked out at 3:30 exhausted but filled with joy and love)
It was truly the wedding of my dreams. I have had many people already tell me it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The atmosphere was just so perfect.
Here are some pictures, a couple are teasers from the photographer but most are just friend shots
This picture was a gift from someone, they hired us a live painter to paint our first dance! It isn’t complete in this picture.
