- Wedding: June 2011
It’s been almost a year and a half since Darling Husband and I got married and I moved in with him. Most of my books are still in boxes in our spare bedroom. Our plan is to renovate our basement over the next year and move our office downstairs, along with installing a bunch of bookcases for our still boxed-up library.
In the meantime, it was driving me crazy having those boxes piled up in the spare bedroom and not being able to get to my books. So with eight boxes free from the liquor store and five dollar’s worth of wrapping paper from the Dollar Store, I came up with a temporary bookcase!
I cut the flaps off the tops of the boxes. Then I wrapped the boxes individually (but only on the sides that you can see–top, sides, and back). Once the boxes were wrapped, I taped them together with clear packing tape. I wasn’t that careful about making sure there were equal amounts of paper lining the inside edges, but once you get it filled up with books, it’s not that noticeable.
It’s not perfectly symmetrical or anything, but I kind of think the stacked look is cute. It’s actually pretty sturdy! I made sure to put the heaviest books on the bottom shelf. Now off I go to finish filling it up. 🙂
