My best friend and her partner (my cousin) have been together forever and been talking about eloping because of their $ situation. My hubby and I are the only people that have been invited and I want to create the most memorable day for her. I had an idea of creating a “wedding in a box” to bring with us. Filled with items like a garter, lapel pins, ties, jewellery, champagne, polaroid camera etc. Does anyone have any thoughts on what else I could include? Also, any other ways I could make this day special for her?

@lthomas1: Two of my friends eloped on very short notice, and we picked up flowers for a bouquet and bubbles on the way to the courthouse… then a bottle of prosecco for the celebratory post-elopement Chinese food dinner!
How about a cupcake so they can do a “cake cutting” and feed each other a bite?

@lthomas1: I think what you have planned is awesome!

@lthomas1: I LOVE the idea of a wedding box!
Are they doing a destination elopement? If so maybe save things like their hotel key, a small vile of sand (if it’s beachy, obviously), maybe a boarding pass if you can get your hands on one, etc. Also LOTS and LOTS of pictures. I wish we had more candid shots from a third party during our wedding trip.

Yes, It’s a destination elopment. They are thinking about San Francisco right now. Saving mementos is a great idea as well for a post-trip scrapbook.

I would suggest reccording the vows for the family that cannot be there!

Also something borrowed and something blue and all that. Maybe a handkerchief?
This sounds like so much fun =)

Aww, this is such an adorable idea: you sound like a great best friend! I love the “Wedding in a Box” idea with old, new, borrowed, and blue items and maybe a flip video camera to film the ceremony? Then you could make them a wedding video and/or scrapbook to remember their day afterwards 🙂

All of these ideas are great! Only think I can think of is a cute wedding topper; you can suggest going out for cake/cupcakes after. There are tons of great bakeries/dessert shops in SF!

What about hiring a photographer for the ceremony so they have some pro pictures to remember? If that’s not an option, I think your idea is great!
