So we actually designed my ring together, but I didn’t know when it was coming in. Then I found the bag when I was putting away laundry one day. He also let it slip that he had it, and he was just waiting for the perfect time (I think he was REALLY excited). I told him that it didn’t need to be over the top, just the two of us. Well then I was suspicious anytime he called me anywhere in the house! “Hey can you come help me with this” meant that I was constantly thinking “this is it!!”. It was actually really fun for me to get all nervous and then have him be like “hold this while I get this thing done”. actually the day he did it, I didn’t see it coming at all. I thought for sure if it was going to happen it would be either the next day or the next weekend! It ended up being a Friday night, and it was amazing!

We had plans to go to a restaurant on a little lake and see a band that we liked and that he was friends with a lot of people in. He was hurrying me to get ready so we could go  and I just kept thinking “they don’t start playing for like 2 more hours” so I got ready and he had gotten a bottle of my favorite rose that evening and he asked if I wanted a glass of it. I said sure, but I was thinking “weren’t you just telling me to hurry up?!?!” And he brought out the wine glasses with these little bow tie charms on them and mine had the ring on it! It was absolutely perfect! Just the two of us, our dog (who was completely unimpressed!) on our patio! Then we got to go celebrate with an amazing dinner in a beautiful place! I loved it!

I had ZERO idea it was coming.

We had been together for 12 years and I had accepted that we were never getting married lol. I had gone through so many “what if this is the day/moment" that I started to force myself to not think about it and thus not be disappointed.

Then, on one of our many vacations (I had planned this one as it was his birthday). He asked that I keep a day open for him to surprise me. This was NOT out of the norm, he LOVES surprusing me (ironically, I hate it haha). And he ended up giving me one of the most amazing experiances of my life.

I think I knew SOMETHING was up, but mostly out of intuition that I just ignored and looking back I am like “ohhhhh okay yea now I see it". Example: I had NO idea where we were going, and when we were up in the air he asked the pilot to “tell his girlfriend where we were going" and I literally got butterflies, which was weird. I had been his girlfriend for such a long time it’s not like I had never heard him say it before.

Another example is after we landed, he was off taking picures with a camera I bought him for his Bday and talking to the pilot (little did I know he was telling the pilot his plan and asking for help). Meanwhile I am stuffing my face with a danish sipping on a mimosa and he comes to me and says “lets take some photos of us" so what do I do? I chug down my mimosa and say “Okay lets do this!"…mind you that is not something I say often ha!

My advice: don’t think about it too much. Just enjoy the moment.

daisymaewaiting :  We were doing errands (ha) and happened to be at the Brooklyn Public Library HQ, which is a beautiful building.  He got down on one knee right in front! Then we walked through Prospect Park for a while, just enjoying the day.  He’s had the ring since May, which I knew, but I was totally surprised.

I was proposed in Bali last summer during our vacation together. I didn’t know that my whole family and bestfriends would all be there during the proposal. And yes, it caught me off-guard a little since it was not as what as i expect it to be. But it was really beautiful and we tie the knot in March this year.

I did know when, cos out of nowhere, Chris invites everyone for dinner and he proposed to me. I didn’t know if this was considered romantic or too straight forward. foot-in-mouth
