Hello Hive! 🙂
I just wanted to share a little bit about my bridal shower that was thrown for me today.
It was a wonderful party and I had a blasty blast! It was a smallish shower with my closest female relatives and a few of my Bridesmaids. My BM’s had created cute centerpieces, fun games, surprised me and had out done themselves with food.
My word! There was lots of food. 🙂 They served chicken sandwiches (my favorite/moms recipe), pea & cheese salad, watermelon slices, chocolate covered strawberries and punch/coffee. My mother also had a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! Num.
The theme to the shower was “Date Night.” So my family and friends purchased around that theme. It was really neat to see what everyone came up with. Some ladies even wrote instructions about what to do or why they chose that certain gift. The majority of my gifts were bottles of wine, popcorn, and chocolate! Good stuff! I even received the same movie twice. It was the movie that Fiance and I watched together right after he proposed. But they didnt even know about that! So I gladly clued them in on that fun fact. Hah.
There was 2 different types of centerpieces. They were simple and elegant. Bridesmaid or Best Man wrapped a bottle of wine with shiny paper and wrapped twine around around it. She placed a single flower stem inside. The other centerpieces were these huge, tall, and rectangular-shaped glass containers with soil at the bottom. Bridesmaid or Best Man placed a vase in the center and a fake hydrangea (one of my wedding flowers and in our colors) inside of that. She also put moss to cover up the small vase that was within the large glass container. It looked like a mini representaion of our ceremony site. *We are getting married underneath a weeping willow tree.*
We played the toilet paper game and my BM’s also had everyone write a quote or draw something on a quilting square. I am sooo excited to receive that quilt. 🙂 One of my Bridesmaid or Best Man is going to embroider the quotes before putting it together for me and Fiance.
I was the most excited about my surprise. I usually dont like surprises. Mostly because I like to be in control and know ALL things. LOL. But, before opening gifts, everyone was told that we had to wait 15 minutes for the surprise. So picture a group of 15 ladies sitting and waiting and outwardly guessing what this surprise could possibly be… “Did she order a stripper?” Haha. “Hope not!” Meanwhile, I was having a bit of some anxious feelings going on. I was a little worried about this surprise and what it could be.
Anyway, my surprise walked in almost exactly 15 minutes later. It was my FI! 🙂
Apprently, it is tradition that the Fiance shows up toward the end of the Bridal shower bearing flowers for his Bride to be. This way they can open gifts together (and in my case, help me carry them all out to the truck) and ease any anxiety or awkwardness of opening gifts in front of loving family and friends. Something like that… 🙂 Haha. He looked so stinken handsome. I dont think I couldve been happier. This is something I had never heard about. I just saw my Fiance an hour earlier and yet it made my day for him to show up all snazzy and surprise me like this. Love him! It was nice to have his help reading the cards also. Because I am so emotional, it was nice having someone read them aloud. This way I couldnt be caught choking up. Actually, I think he may have gotten choken up himself reading one fo the cards. We had both our mothers and everyone in the room in tears. Oh my golly!
There was lots of love floating around today. I just thought I should spread my happiness with the rest of the hive!
