Hoping you can help me out here. My Fiance and I were discussing the bridal party and we reached a bit of a sticky point. He’s not sure who to ask to be his best man. He has 3 really great, really close friends and I naturally assumed he would ask one of them. However, I don’t think he wants to pick one over the others so he suggested asking my brother to be his best man. At first when he mentioned this I thought it was a nice idea, but the more I think about it the more I’m not sure. I adore my brother and plan to ask my SIL to be my Maid/Matron of Honor, but I always pictured the best man as being the guy who knows the groom inside out, knows how to calm any nerves, and shares a history with him. My Fiance and my brother get along great but they don’t KNOW eachother the way that close friends do.
I guess what I’m trying to say here is, does it seem weird for my brother to be the best man when my Fiance has 3 great guys he could choose from? I totally understand not wanting to make waves and choose one over the other, but these are guys that have known my Fiance for 15 years. I haven’t said much to him about it since we last talked as this is not MY decision. I’m just a little on the fence about the whole thing. Am I overthinking this?
