I don’t know of any rule that says a man can’t wear white to a wedding, but I’m also not really up on all the ettiquette rules, so I could be wrong. He certainly won’t be mistaken for the bride, though, and I can’t see how a man in a suit could steal attention away from your beautiful dress. I wouldn’t really have an issue with it, personally, but if you do, kindly request that he chooses something else to wear. There are a lot of light colors he could wear other than white or cream.

I think you’re over-reacting a little bit, but it depends on the type of wedding you are having and how traditional you are

for a summer outdoor wedding…..I’d be fine with his choice, Dark suits get hot in the sun he’s certainly not going to outshine the bride. The only issue i can see would be if the groom/smen were wearing white suits.

makepeace1989 :  Yeah in this case, I kind of agree with your brother that it will be really hot out and a darker suit would be uncomfortably hot. I would say this is probably a “bridezilla” moment, though, since there really is no rule against men wearing a white suit to a wedding, as it’s not going to take away from the bride or cause other guests any confusion. It’s likely he never even considered this would ever be an issue. If the groomsmen and your Fiance will be in darker suits (not white or cream), I honestly don’t see this as a big deal.

If it’s all white it might stand out a bit and also he might be mistaken as the groom (some grooms do wear white suits), so….

I think you might be overreacting slightly, you obvoiusly know your brother, but if you think him wearing a white suit is trying to steal teh show from you is in his character then yes, maybe i would be annoyed. However, I woudln’t be annoyed simply at his choice of wearing white for comfort, i doubt people will be paying more attention to him than you, if that is your concern with him wearing white??

makepeace1989 :  Hmm yeah, that definitley makes it much more annoying! I guess the best you can do is ask him if he could go with a different colour suit, but still a light material like a navy linen or something, and then once you’ve said your peace let it go! There are way more important things to worry about, and at the end of the day he’ll be the one who people are questioning, not you!
