@nephthys:  can’t wait to see it!! I feel sort of bad because olive is probably swamped from the bee ordering a ton of dresses and the holiday! Im sure she’s happy she’s busy, but probably overwhelmed!!! Lol. Can’t wait to see it though. I love reading these journeys!

I think it looks very good! I’m glad you pointed out the beading and managed to get a discount. I think the rest of the dress looks fairly impeccible. You could always take it to a seamstress in your area and ask them to quote you for a heavier beading?

@nephthys:  Looks good except the beading at the neckline, which is in some way the most distinctive part of the original. I think you could probably take it to a local seamtress, or even a friend with some sewing skills, to bling that up once it arrives to you.

@nephthys:  She also did tell me that she had quoted me cheaper for the fabric of silk satin when it should be more expensive. Not sure how true that is.

I doubt it. From my experiences in purchasing custom garments in China, that’s typically what’s said to you when you want corrections to the garment.

I would agree with you, that that may be the extent of her applique and beading abilities. Definitely bring it to somewhere else when you receive it. It shouldn’t be too hard. What’s missing is a silver thread lace applique over the lace overlay at the top, and probably some more beading. But I think as long as you have the silver thread lace applique at the top, it should look similar enough, you may not need the extra beading. Smile

@nephthys:  Is she not willing to deck it out in all crystals like you want? I think you have to be very concise with what it is that you want. On a side note…when I had inquired about making the lower half of my dress silk satin…she had quoted me $619. I decided to no go with that so she gave me a lower quote of $276 for the other satin, which, so far seems just as nice in pictures. Do you mind if I make a suggestion? Perhaps get the crysals on the straps bigger so that it actually covers the entire strap. I had to put that out to Olive as well as I think it looks weird to see the spagetti strap underneath the lace straps I got. Perhaps get the neckline a little bit more beaded up? Attach a picture of something you’d like? But it’s all up to you. I think the back of the dress is absolutely beautiful though. It looks like it’ll be light to wear.

I think it’s pretty, but there are a lot of things missing from the original. For example, the lace that goes across the back/neck/shoulders and how the lace connects with the strap on the back (behind armpits). You are right that the neckline is severly lacking detail from the original. I’m really surprised she just did a few pearls and didn’t even bother to add the rhinestones. I do think your dress is pretty, but I would be a bit disappointed if she said she could make me a very close replica and she didn’t really even get the shape right and skipped out on some major details that really make the original stand out. I hope you like it when it comes. Please post pics and a detailed review for us!

It doesn’t look anything like the dress you wanted. I wouldn’t settle for this I don’t care if it was FREE!

Youd be better off finding a similar style at a cheaper salon already made.

I’m also not super impressed with my completed dress. I guess it’s always safer to just order a dress the maker has already replicated (like the Inbal Dror). My Carabridal order was also a back-up…
