I’m so sorry for your loss! She was so cute! I love tuxedo cats.
I’ve lost cats to old age before, but not at the vet’s from a heart attack. That’s so awful. I can only imagine how that felt.
My only advice is to be kind to yourself and try not to feel guilty (even though it’s kind of natural- when my cat Nigel needed to be put to sleep I kept obsessing over what I could have done better). You gave your kitty 15 years of love and care, and you made the right call to leave her with a qualified professional who would have saved her if it was at all possible.
Big internet hugs to you!

VintageGirl1020 : oh bee I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. She has had 15 wonderful years with you and therefore she knows how much you love her.
She is such a beautiful cat. I have no doubt she will be chasing around in heaven with all the other cats. It will be permanent playtime!
Please allow yourself time to grieve. You share such a special bond with these little creatures that it is very easy for others who don’t know you/ that love to sweep it under the carpet as “just a pet”. With time it will get easier, although you will always miss her. Try to remember all the happy and funny memories you have shared in the dark moments and maybe write them down in a book? If you have a wave of sadness you can look in this book and find a memory to make you smile again.

I’m so sorry for your loss… You had 15 years of being a very loving cat mom, and I’m sure she enjoyed those years more than you know. Be kind and gentle with yourself right now… Eventually the grief will ease and maybe God has another feline who will need your love and home in the future.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Her little spirit will always be with you. It’s so sad, it’s losing a family member. Take comfort in knowing how much love you shared; being kind/loving to a pet is one of the most wonderful things a person can do, and the love they give in return is special.

My 18 year old kitty died last year, and my heart just broke. I know what that feels like ((())). If it helps you at all, I was there until the end and it wasn’t any easier and I didn’t feel less guilty about being there or not. Pain is pain, and your little kitty knew how much you loved her–fifteen years worth. Having an animal is such a responsibility, and knowing when it’s time for you to be the most humane is hard, but it’s part of what we give back to them for all they gave to us. Your cat is such a beauty. Mine was a little black and white cat too, but more tuxedo than yours. A year later and I still miss him. They are such a part of our lives. This little poem helped me a lot; it’s still on my refrigerator:
When tomorrow starts without me
Don’t think we’re far apart.
For everytime you think of me
I’m right here, inside your heart.
Hugs to you and your beautiful kitty. I’m so sorry ((())).

VintageGirl1020 : From one cat mama to another, I’m sending you so many hugs right now!!!
15 years of wonderful love and friendship: I’m so sorry you lost your little one. There was nothing you could do, you were a great cat mom. I’m sure your fur baby knew that, and knows you love her still. Time will heal your heart and ease the pain.

Hang in there my fellow cat lover! As one bee mentioned, your grief will lessen in time and eventually you’ll be able to remember all of your cherished time with her and smile. I still think about my cat Sammy who passed away in 2007, but then I think about Molly (my cat whom I adopted in 2008) and how she might not have a home if Sammy hadn’t passed… I’d like to think God knew Molly needed a home with me. And, after 15 years of your loving care, I know your kitty trusted you and knew you were doing the best thing for her by bringing her to the vet….I’m sure she felt all that love from you.
