- Wedding: May 2013
I made these vases for my centerpieces with glassware from the dollare tree for our May 2013 Wedding!
Our plan is to use long tables for our reception and put these going down the tables with clusters of different heights of white candle sticks and glass votives.
This is just my first mock up. I want to get all the kinks out before I make a bazillion of them…Wine and craft night anyone????
Here is what I used:
2 Glass candle stick holders (4 for the tall vase)
1 Small glass fishbowl
I am going to try and find a different glue because the hot glue did not dry clear and I just dont know if I trust it to hold. Any suggestions on glue? I thinkI might try super glue next. I’ll let yall know how it goes…if my fingers aren’t glued together….
The mock up is shown with 1 white hydrangea (because I only had one left from the bouquet I got from fiance for our anniversary) We plan to put 3 white hydrangeas in each vase. Does anyone know how much that costs?
I also am going to play around with diferent ways to dress them up. I want them to be elgant and simple but not too plain… I might go look at Michael’s and see what I can find. I was thinking about glittering the the tops like the ones in this blog post that I found (where else) on Pinterest! Has anyone tried glittering the inside of a vase with glitter and Modge podge? Apparently, you can put flowers and water in them and the modge podge works as a sealant…We’ll see.
I’m also worried that my tall vases might be too tall and skinny and might topple over. It seems pretty sturdy on my counter top but I can only imagine that they might fall over if they are on top of table cloths and overlays and someone bumps the table….Any ideas on how to make them more sturdy? Maybe I can glue a small square mirror to the bottom….or maybe even a piece of glass from those square picture frames at the dollar store and then I will have frames left over for another project….Oh the Possibilities!
So those are my mock ups and the ideas and concerns I have with them…Over all I am happy with my idea.
Any comments and or suggestions are MORE than welcome!
