These photos are enormous and I have no idea how to change that. Very sorry.
From what I’ve read here, I don’t think many would like my ring. It’s a princess cut with a halo and channel set diamonds. I love it, but I have some small issues with the prongs. The diamond belonged to my mother who died several years ago. It was given to my fiancé who then secretly chose this setting knowing I wanted a halo. They had to cut the original prongs off to accommodate the size of the diamond and it all had to be done very quickly before we came left the States at the end of our holiday.
The result is that the prongs are, I think, a bit obtrusive and quite pointy. I sometimes think they are slightly too modern for the vintage style of the ring. I would like to see if I could change them to something similar to the middle ring in the third picture, but I wanted to check with people who may have more knowledge before I approach my fiancé. We do have an excellent jewellery quarter nearby, so finding someone to do the work would not be difficult. What do you think? Would this work?

You could do whatever you want with it, but I agree that it’s beautiful as is.

It’s a very pretty ring but I agree that the prongs look a little big.
I’m not a jeweler but if that were my ring, I would look to see if the prongs could be made to be a little thinner, or if the center diamond could be set down a little lower so it didn’t stand up so high from the halo itself.
FWIW, your ring is not controversial at all. Look at the number of halo threads there are. It’s a very popular style.

Personally, i like it and don’t mind the prongs! I think it’s beautiful! That being said, if you don’t like it, you CAN change the prongs!

I’m not a fan of diamonds sitting so far up from the halo. Other than that I like the ring 🙂

I think that diamond is too big for the setting so the have to set it that way.

I agree with you about the prongs and they add to the height of the ring. If I was you I would be feeling the exact same way.

@NearlyWife: i love this style of ring but i do think that the centre stone is too big for the setting and this is the reason why the jeweller had to mount it so high up. it looks like they took a head from another ring and put it in the middle of the halo. perhaps because they were rushed. if a jeweller had proper time, they could easily make it look more like the photo you like.

Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. I know the diamond is too big for the setting, but as far as I know they didn’t tell my fiancé that when he chose it, and I’m definitely not changing it. He put a lot of thought into the choice and he really did make a good one. I may try to talk to him tonight. I need to et the ring sized again anyway, so that would be a good time to explore options.

I think it’s a lovely ring. Not my thing because I don’t like rings to stick up so much off my hand, it would get caught on way too much!
