I’ve seen the sand ceremonies done before and have always loved them. I’ve never seen an hourglass used before! That looks amazing. Always thought that was a great way to blend a family. It always makes me think of those rose art kits that used to be popular years ago. Your dad takes some amazing photos by the way.

@FloretteLiz: Totally agree with everything you said. Now I wish we did that with an hourglass. What a cook keepsake!!

Sand ceremonies are actually pretty common (especially at beach themed weddings – We had one!) What I have not seen is the hourglass, and I think that’s pretty darn cool. I also like how it’s the entire family participating in the ceremony – it is usually just the bride and groom. Very nice!

This is a cool idea, but how does one pour sand into an hourglass? I am having a duh moment because I thought hourglasses were closed pieces of glass??? Someone help!

I don’t even know where to find an hour glass…

I am looking for sand ceremony set right now.  The one we are thinking of is the DB one.  However, many people I know have already used it.  want to see if there is another option.

Would love to have this at my beach wedding!  I’m gonna look for an empty hourglass now.  This is a great idea, although I think I’ll just do our parents because I don’t want to unite myself with FSILs and FBILs.
