I posted a few months ago about designing our own pearl engagement ring and it’s finally on my finger! The proposal was very sweet and we are actually keeping it to ourselves for a few days but I wanted to post the photo here for y’all to see since you were so helpful 🙂
It’s a 5(ish)mm japanese akoya aaa pearl with a rose gold band and white gold claws with marquise diamonds on the side. It feels unique and classic at the same time to me. There has been a bit of a mixup and it was supposed to be rose gold claws as well. He just got it back from he jeweler friday and didn’t notice in his excitement so we’ll be phoning tomorrow to see what – if anything can be done. Maybe white gold is better though because it doesn’t break up the small diamonds as much – what do you think? Can that even be changed without damaging the pearl? Seems unlikely. It was quite the process to choose one. I’m getting used to it and hope it’s dainty enough but it’s gorgeous and we can’t stop looking at it 🙂

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love pearls!! I think the white prongs look good and I think some bees go for white gold prongs on a rose gold ring because the white gold isn’t as soft. I think that’s right haha. Anyways yes I agree they don’t break up the diamonds. Congrats!

Thank you, everyone, I love it too! I think I’m coming around to the white gold prongs as well 🙂 I think it’s beautiful it was just a bit surprising. It was so scary going the custom route, especially sincewe we wanted something fairly simple and dainty, but it was worth it!
