So glad to hear your mother said something, and I hope your father has similar sentiments when you’re ready to speak with him. She’s right, they deserve it, but it’s awesome you’re able to forgive them. Kudos to you.

And I’m also glad the cute fur-baby has so many options for a home. Lucky dog. 🙂

I just have to say I am so glad everything worked out for Harry. This is one of the first times I have logged on since my wedding/honeymoon- so I haven’t been following your thread- but I did read it from start to finish and I have been crying my eyes out with every turn of the story. This should be published because it was so heart warming. What you went through to find Harry and to make sure that he was taken care of. He is so adorable, and I am so glad that he has a second chance at life in a lovng home with your FMIL! Cheers to Harry!

If my parents ever did anything like this, I don’t think I could forgive them. Getting rid of the dog behind your back and then flat-out LYING to you about it?!? There is NO excuse. I hope you let them know how totally sh*tty it was of them to do that.

On a positive note, I’m thrilled you got Harry back before it was too late. I hope he lives out the rest of his life being loved and cherished, as all animals should be.

Yeah! I’m so glad this story has a happy ending and that Harry is with your Future In-Laws and you’ll be able to see him often!

@Amayansong:  P.S.  I also wanted to say I’m glad your mom sent a note.  Still does not excuse what they did.  You give yourself as much time as you need.  Seriously.

Best wishes to you and little Harry starting his new life!

I am so happy everything turned out. As a lifetime dog lover/owner, I’d have been heartbroken. Best to you and Harry.

And now I am a crying mess, I am so happy for you and Harry! Thank you for coming back and updating us all, this thread seriously restores your faith in fate and humanity. Well except for your Dad, but hopefully in time that fence can be mended.

@Amayansong:  Thank you.  Yes they are very happy.  Both are rescues.

I can understand how you could feel confused as to where to go from here.  It is a big huge violation of your trust for your parents to lie about something of that magnitude.  And to contine to lie, the goose chase.  I shudder to think of the fallout if things had ended up differently . . . I’m sure that has crossed your mind as well.

Maybe talk to a counselor for sorting out your feelings?  It’s something you shouldn’t have to go through alone.

If you ever want to talk privately, feel free to pm.

(hugs)
