Hi!  I worked with DK and have a cathedral setting.  Also, my wife’s ring is from him as well.  His milgrain is incredible, so highly suggest that.  His engraving is too, but with the diamonds on the band it might get too busy which is why I am suggesting milgrain.  I will say, the final product looks much daintier than the CAD, so maybe not worry about thinning anything out.  I will attach our CADs and then pictures of our rings to give you some perspective on the CAD to real life transition.

My CAD then pics of my ring

This is a picture comparing the milgrain on her ring to the inspo ring we sent him.  Hers is on top so you can see how amazing his work it.

The basket is concave… for a cupcake, it needs to be convex (like a little cup).

This is my ering… See how the prongs are very swoopy and more convex?  To make it look more like a cupcake, you’ll need to have a larger donut at the bottom.

lilsweetie :   Thank you.  It was made by Caysie Van Bebber of CVB Inspired Design.  It’s a modified “Jovyn” with petite tabs prongs.

snpmarin :  Here’s some examples I found… each one has a very “cuppy” basket.  Hope that helps.

You could add a small amount of zigzagging milgrain to the metal “swoops” at the top between the prongs to give it the appearance of a cupcake wrapper and the little folds in it. But in general, I think you’ve got the look down

snpmarin :  Gotcha… so you’ve decided you’d rather it not be a “cupcake ring”, but quite the opposite.  Good luck with your search. 🙂

msop04 :  sorry to ask on this post, don’t want to thread jack – but have to ask – where did you get your marquise shaped band? It is so cute!
