I initially had an emerald cut diamond with a trillion on each side (picture #1). Although the stones were beautiful, it didn’t have that sparkle. Also, the emerald had four prongs which didn’t feel secure. It just didn’t feel very wearable and sat protected in it’s box most of the time. After all, this was my engagement ring and I wanted it protected. I then felt that an engagement ring should be worn and enjoyed, so I redesigned the emerald stone in a bezel head with dark rubies on each side (picture #2). It looked beautiful at first but then I felt that there was too much metal, the rubies were overpowering, and the diamond was lost with almost no shine. Just not me. I brought it in to my jeweler and talked about a ring that I could not go wrong with: a timeless, classic, traditional, beautiful round brilliant. I picked out a 1.04 Ring Bearer diamond J color, SI1. The specs are fine with me. It’s sparkly and eye clean…and a good deal. I also came up with an idea of how to incorporate my channel set, seven diamond, anniversary band. I chose to have that ring be designed to hold my new Ring Bearer. The sentiment is beautiful to me. Combining engagement ring with anniversary band. I am picking it up tomorrow but have found a picture online that looks like it. I will post a picture of my actual ring once I pick it up. I love it…and once again, who could go wrong with a classic Round Brilliant diamond!
The first picture is the original ring. The second is of my custom design with the rubies (too bold and chunky for me). Then finally, a picture of my new ring. I love it. The six prongs will make me feel comfortable wearing it without fear of loosing or damaging the stone.
What do you ladies think?! (I just couldn’t find a way to make the second picture smaller…wow, it’s huge!!)
