@tmsing:  Just focus on finding a new role. Of course, keep doing your job because you need the reference, but a few months should be enough time to secure something else.

OP, this happened to me, although I was only given 2 weeks notice. I kept doing my job, but I also used the time to update my resume and LinkedIn profiel, apply for jobs, etc. If the department is being cut, the work should start winding down, anyway. Try to stay motivated, but it’s okay if your focus shifits to finding a new job – I’m sure they expect that when they provide the heads up.
