- Wedding: October 2012
I’m very excited about my wedding this October, I had to share our theme ideas with you bees! We’re having a Princess and the Frog themed wedding, and we’re also doing a themed engagement photoshoot! Our wedding colors are purple, green, and gold/yellow (Mardi Gras colors to go with the whole movie theme).
I haven’t really seen anyone do this theme (cause I’ve been looking all over for reference photos of frog price weddings for ideas), so I’m really excited to execute this Disney fairy tale theme!
First let me share our engagement photo ideas. We live in Illinois (very far away from New Orleans, where the Disney movie takes place), but we were able to find a resort in St. Charles with a replica of Bourbon Street! Which is where we’ll be taking photos. St. Charles also has a river boat that runs in the summer, and we’ll be getting some photos with the river boat in the background!

Now on to the actual wedding details! First off, our venue is a castle banquet hall. There wasn’t a castle in the movie, but it goes along with our whole fairytale theme (plus it was all inclusive, and we couldn’t beat the price).

My bouquet is going to be a combination of all 3 of our wedding colors, and the bridesmaids bouquets will be all green flowers, and they’ll be wearing plum color dresses.
Our centerpieces are floating LED candles, and water lilies, I made them myself (a detail thread about all the pieces I used can be found here)
We’re giving our guests handmade frog shaped soap. An amazing Etsy artist is making them for us.
We’re using the Tiana and Naveen figures from the playset as our cake topper. I wish Disney came out with official cake toppers, but if done right, these figures work perfectly!
I’m making a photo guest book, that will have our engagement photos in it, and blank spaces for people to write messages to us, and I want to try to make the outside of the guest book look like a story book. I’ll be using this drawing I did of my fiance and I as the cover image. I still need to add color to it.
I’ve been saving this Disney Designer Doll cluth purse for my wedding, my fiance’s sister bought it for me as a Christmas gift.
My fiance is also going to wear a 3-piece tan suit at our wedding. Naveen has a lot of tan suits in his wardrobe, and it would be an excellent nod to the character. I don’t know what his suit actually looks like, because like my dress it’s a surprise. But I put the image below to give you an idea. The guys will be wearing plum color ties for the wedding.
And my dress, I actually picked because I love the style, and it was very flattering to my shape. But after I bought the dress, I realized it has an asymmetrical layer-like design, that is vaguely similar to the petal dress Tiana wears (I know this last one is a bit of a stretch because my wedding dress doesn’t really look like Tiana’s dress, but in my eye they are similar enough lol)
Sooo….what do you ladies think of our theme? I can’t wait until the wedding is here, and all these pieces come together!
