Ahhh.. I just got my first “yes” after sending out my “Be my bridesmaid?” cards! Inspired by Anna of Rifled Paper Co’s very own “be my maid” cards, these were my FIRST wedding project attempted and were definitely a labor of love.
Immediately after finishing the first set of maids, I almost regretted my choice to have a large bridal party – seven bridesmaids in all. They were a bit tedious to make so many, but in the end I was SO happy with them… my first “official” bridesmaid called right after she got hers and went on and on about how much she loved the idea… I’m so excited to hear back from the other six!
I wanted to make sure I got each of the bridesmaids’ hairstyles right, so I went so far as to check their most recent Facebook photos (they all live far away from me, so I haven’t seen most of them in a couple months), and made sure to match their eye color with the same colored marker.
I designed the card itself using Pages on my MacBook, printed them myself and cut them to size. Then I folded up all the paper doll chains making sure each bride was facing up on their chain, and tied the doll chain and card together with baker’s twine. Then I sent them all out in kraft paper envelopes.
It took me nearly four weeks from start to postage stamps to finish this project. I’d sit down for an hour and cut out the paper doll chains, then a few of the dresses and would stop for a few days. Then I’d cut out some hair styles for another hour and quit for another few days. I wasn’t in a rush, because our wedding is still 14 months away, but I was really anxious to ask my bridesmaids after two months of being engaged.
So now that I’ve got one down, there are six more to go! So excited to hear back from everyone 🙂
What do you think of the cards? Who else has made “be my maid” cards like these? Show me your pics!
