So I have been OBSESSING and stressing over whether or not I would wear a veil. When the consultant put one on me at David’s Bridal I tensed up and quickly said “Oh my… get it off of me!” I knew the “bridal” veil look was not for me! However, the idea of a birdcage seemed appealing… Nothing extravagant, just a little something extra to make me “look the part” of being the bride.
So, I bought a cheap one off ebay…. hated it. Too poufy. My mom made one…. too flat…. my mom made another one… and it was just ugly…. I was starting to think “Hm, maybe I don’t want one at all…” My poor mother had decided she was NOT going to make a 3rd one, so she gave me the extra netting she had bought and said “You’re on your own!”
So, after a few days of pouting because I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I started thinking about the things I didn’t like about the other veils I had so far. I liked the idea of the one I had bought off ebay, it just had SO much netting that it was bunchy and too poufy at the top. So, I took it apart to see how it was made. The netting was in a somewhat trapezoid shape, so I cut out a smaller piece, bunched it a little, stuck a hair comb through it, and that’s it. I was done. Like seriously. Easiest wedding project ever.
And here were my results.
I’m wearing it a little too much on an angle… and it needs a few pouf tweaks… but overall, I’m pretty happy with the results!
