I’ve been doing the “cheating” calligraphy from that site for the past hour…good thing it’s a slow day at work ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think I’m going to order supplies to try it for real! I am so happy you posted this!

Wow those came out beautiful!  I actually asked for (and received) a calligraphy kit for Christmas to hopefully learn how to address my invites lol.  I hope I can do even half as good a job!

For my envelopes, I wanted them to look nice but not spend a ton of money on them. So I made up a word template and printed the names and addresses on the envelope in a super fancy font and a VERY light gray color (mint colored envelopes). Then I went over the font with a calligraphy pen.

The only person who realized it wasn’t handwritten was my mom. And that’s because she inspected it for 5 minutes due to the facy that she didn’t believe I could have ever free-handed them!

silvalia:  just wanted to let you know, you totally inspired me. i bought the kaitlyn sheets from TPK, and have been practicing for the past 2 weeks. finally bought a straight pen, nib, and ink, and did my first dip pen calligraphy sheets yesterday. my handwriting is TOTAL SHIT, and yet somehow – this doesn’t look terrible! it’s like magic, and i’ve only just begun. with some practice, i’m hopeful it will be awesome. i thought calligraphy was totally out of my league, but after seeing yours, i figured the $5 gamble was worthwhile. THANK YOU!

and to any other bees out there thinking about it – if i can do it, you can too!

silvalia:  right?! my wedding isn’t until june 2017, so it will be a while before i tackle the envelopes (but maybe i’ll try it out on our save the dates!). i think the real deciding factor was finding out that her lessons start off with a regular ballpoint or gel pen – so it really is only a $5 inventment. you dont have to go invest more money in supplies until after you’ve had a chance to practice it and find out if you’ll stick with it or give it up. (plus, it means you can start right away instead of waiting for supplies)
