So originally I wanted to have those LOVELY wooden garden chairs for my big day…but after finding out the price difference between those and the fanbacks I couldn’t bring myself to spend 3X the money for them. I knew I was going to do a lot of decorating with ribbon and decided to make the most of the fanbacks and decorate them with garland made from leftover ribbon from my arbor garlands and wand streamers. When I’m all done with all these chair garlands I’ll do my best to have an accurate cost breakdown of this project. After all, if I spend too much I may as well have rented those garden chairs to begin with.
Below is a picture of my first stab at the garland with some rope we had lying around and my extra ribbon. I hope to make them better and be something that can be setup relatively quickly.
Improvement #1 – I’ll still be using the rope but I think I’ll just knot each end and connect it to the chair using fishing line or ribbon. The way it is now some guests may find the rope loops uncomfortable on their backs.
Improvement #2 – I’ll add a dab of flexible glue to each ribbon so that they remain secure throughout the day and in storage.
