First off, let me say I’m not very talented in the arts ‘n’ crafts department, so I’m pretty proud of my handy work. However, I would love to get some honest feedback from the hive.
I really wanted invitations with glitter on them, but Fiance said it was just too much, so we compromised and he said I could have glitter placecards if I so desired. After looking on Etsy and in stationary shops I realized that purchasing these cards would be ridiculously expensive. Since I have a week off before my next semester starts I decided to venture to the craft store and try my hand at making them… it couldn’t be that hard, right?
Here I’ve added the plum cardstock to the gold glitter cardstock. I’m worried about the purple pieces not being exactly centered or straight.
Here is with the “name plate” added. I’ve obviously blurred out the name for privacy, but have left enough so you can see the font that I’ve chosen. I’m thinking about enlarging the font a size or two.
The one pictured is one of the first I completed and is only a trial run. I’m hoping that I’ve worked out a few kinks and they only continue to look better.
Honest feedback is appreciated!

Love them! I’m doing almost the same thing but using different color glitter behind to indicate their meal choice. You did a great job!!!!

I really like them! I wouldn’t put too much effort into them lining up perfectly, I am sure no one will notice if they are off just a few degrees! I think you’re right about increasing the font size a bit, you have enough space to work with. I also like the script font choice

Although the white on top of the purple kind of takes away from the purple.
Have you tried printing them out on a cleae sticker?

i would make the names as big as you can!

I like them better without the white paper in top. It makes them look too busy. Have you thought about printing the names in white on the purple paper or writing with a white pen?

Curlycupcake: I agree with you! But I do like ur cards a lot!

elw728: I love it! I might have to copy you in our colors!

MrsTtoB: that is a great idea! I thought about trying to do the same, but we we’re only having a meat or veggie option, so i figured the few people who ordered vegetarian might feel strange about their place cards being different.
freckledjasmin: I haven’t tried that but I have seen others do it. I’m worried about the edges of the sticker showing. Also, not sure black ink would show up well on the purple paper and I don’t have a fancy printer that could do metallics or anything. I might give it a try though. Thanks!
Curlycupcake: I’ve tried writing with a gold metallic pen but not white. That may be a good idea. I don’t have great handwriting so I’m a little self conscious about that but I imagine most people wouldn’t pay too much attention to it, right?
MsGinkgo: Did you DIY yours? If so, any tips?!

Here was me trying to write with a black marker/pen…
And not wanting to waste another sample I wrote with a gold metallic gel pen over the black…
Sooo yeah this is why I had printed on the white cardstock haha

elw728: I did DIY ours. I had different coloured backgrounds for food choices (requirement of the caterer). They were all a cream base, with a purple, silver, or green layer depending on your meal choice, and then another cream later with the names.
I used the computer to type all the names and printed them, I got really annoyed really quickly as I was making mistakes handwriting them and I’m super picky.

Glitter! Those are really pretty. I would enlarge the font and maybe print in purple ink.

I like the glitter! But I would probably have nixed the purple layer and printed on white cardstock with purple ink for the name

elw728: I love them! Very pretty! But I definitely think you should print the names out. Not only does it look cleaner, but all three colors look amazing together!
