Looks like you’re onto a winner! We DIY’d our invitations to save money too, and I totally would have done something similar to what you’re doing if i hadn’t found these adorable place card holders slash favor boxes in the shape of a chiavari chair.

I agree with PPs though. Enlarge the font size about double the current size. I’d also print white text on the purple, or if you really want to use both purple and white card, print purple text on the white.

elw728:  gorgeous! You did a great job. Love the font. And the glitter–I have a slight addiction to glitter lol

elw728:  This is a photo from the eBay seller (sorry if it’s huge). I’ll be tying a teal coloured ribbon vertically around the box part, and will print and cut the place cards myself (so much cheaper lol).

LOVE IT! Don’t worry about lining them up perfectly… with all that glitter en masse no one will notice a few degrees of difference. However, I would agree w/ enlarging the font on the white name card.

Great job!

elw728:  I do like them better printed than handwritten.  I have bad writing so I feel you on trying to make it look nice.  Can you just print in white right on the purple?

I think it would make a big difference by just making the white card bigger. With only a small outline of purple showing it would be more of an accent and would look a little less busy. I also agree with making the font bigger. I’m going by these I found on Pinterest with a smaller outline:

elw728:  I prefer the gold handwritten.  I would trim the purple cardstock a bit height-wise so more of the gold shows at the top, so the border is even.

If you go with the white cardstock over the purple, definitely make the font much bigger.

Tip:  you could print the purple cardstock with black or grey ink, then trace over the letters with the gold metallic pen.  That way you get the look of printed, with them still being gold.  Try a grey to see if it will show up enough for you to see it, but not enough for it to be obvious if your writing is off just a bit.

elw728:  You can also try fine art supply stores if you have any in your area.  Or dickblick.com.  In my experience Michael’s doesn’t have the best selection sometimes.

elw728:  I love them. I think the metallic pen looks great on the purple. And your handwriting is not bad at all (at least compared to mine)
