I had started this thread a few days ago: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/thoughts-on-my-bouquet-idea#axzz2SMxtLEai
For anyone who doesn’t want to go read it, this is bascially what it said. I found this bouquet and absolutely love it:
I found some roses made of birch shavings on Etsy that I thought could do the job. They came the other day and today I got started on trying to make my bouquet. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
I have two problems so far. The first is that the flowers are smaller than I expected. I’m going to have to use a lot more flowers to get the size bouquet that I want which I thnk is going to make it look busier. I really like how simple the bouquet I posted looks. My second issue is the black edges are a lot more obvious than I was expecting. I think I can fix that but I’m not 100% sure. If I end up not liking this for my bouquet I figure I can use the flowers to make centerpieces (was planning on making my own anyway). What do you guys think?

You did a beautiful job! I actually love the color variations on the red roses. Great job! Don’t worry too much if it looks a bit different than your inspiration picture because yours is lovely 🙂

Thanks everyone! I haven’t done any more work on my bouquet yet because I’m looking into options for fillers. I did make a bridesmaid bouquet today though. The lace isn’t the same shade of white as the flowers so I might change that. But for my first bouquet attempt I think it’s pretty good!

@MistySoda: Very pretty! How many flowers are in the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquet? I only have a Maid/Matron of Honor and want to do something similair to this. Just about 2 or 3 white roses possibly. My bouquet will be white roses with some blue dendrobium orchids for color 🙂 (if I can find some!!) but I’m keeping the color only in my bouquet. Are your flowers real touch?? I’m DIYing to and have no idea where to start lol 🙁 real or real touch, can’t decide.

@FutureMrsPitch: I used 3 real touch roses from Hobby Lobby. I think they made a good sized Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquet. I also got real touch peonies for my other Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquet which I haven’t started yet. I think that not using real is the less stressful option if you are DIYing since you then don’t have to worry about trying to get it all done the day before the wedding. Even if you only have a few to do, to me, worrying about not knwoing how they are going to turn out so close to the wedding would kill me! I’m 6 months out and I’m already having nightmares about things going wrong.
