So I am at the point of tears now. I have completed my DIY invitaion which I was so excited about and absolutly hate them. After making 125 pocketfolds from scratch, hunting high and love for the perfect ribbon and printing out all of the info I can’t stand to see them. They look so home made that it’s painful. What do I do now? Does anyone know someone who does this as a hobby and would like to make some extra money. I didn’t want to go with professional invites because they are so expensive but now I have spent a ton of money on the products for me and I’m stuck.

Did you already make all 125? Do you have photos? Often DIY projects look horrible to the person who made them, but to others they can look just fine.

Awww…I’m sorry. The same thing happened with my Save-The-Date Cards. That’s quite not as tragic as your situation, but still yucky in itself. Have you tried just walking away from them for awhile and coming back a couple days later with fresh eyes? Just a thought.

I’m sure they look better than you think!! I do lots of crafts and I can tell you that you notice all the little flaws more than anyone else!
Would you post pictures of them here on the bee for some encouragement?
Also – there is nothing wrong with the invites looking homemade. We’re DIYing ours and they will definitely look homemade and that’s the point!

I’m sure they look beautiful, it may be that you’ve been staring at them for so long that you’re sick of them. You put so much work into them, don’t doubt yourself.

having them printed might be cheaper than you think…I work for a trade printer, and “wedding stuff” isn’t our specialty but when it comes in we give the ladies really good prices… look around from printers in your area, that are NOT wedding printers (they charge the “wedding tax”) and are NOT kinkos (they aren’t going to be any help).
I hope you come up with a solution.

Oh! I was hoping to see them! Like others have said, we’re always most critical of our own work and they probably don’t look as bad as you think. Post a picture and let us see what you did.

Thank you for the encouragment!
the wonderful bee I got the idea from is posted here. I think she did an amazing job! I used ribbon instead of the birds but everything else I kept the same.

Why dont you post pictures of them so we can give you honest feedback. Its hard to be an objective judge of your own work..

@bells: how do i insert the file of my picture? I dont see a button for that on this page

@jotasevic: I think the ladies are wanting to see photos of the ones YOU have done.
I’m interested in seeing them, too.
when you go to type a post, it’s the little icon beside the “HTML” letters. The fifth icon from the right. click the icon, find the picture, then upload.
hopefully that makes sense!

Can you take a picture of the ones you made? I’m sure they’re not that bad. We’re often our own worst critic!

sorry everyone!I finally got the picture to post! I posted the other bees link to show what i was trying to accomplish. Trust me the picture looks much better than the reality. I think I should have used better paper too!
