- Wedding: June 2014
Our wedding isn’t for two years but I was really excited to ask my girls. It was pretty much a given that they would stand up next to me but I wanted to formally ask them. My maid of honour is my mom because we’re really close and I can trust her to take the role seriously and not cause drama. My bridesmaids are girls I went to elementary/highschool with (:
I basically used this tutorial on Once Wed: http://www.oncewed.com/25356/diy-wedding/diy-bridesmaid-cards/
First, I folded the paper and drew the figures of the girls
Second, I cut them out and cut out dresses/hair for them. I decided to personalize them so each of them has a unique hair style and colour. This took forever haha, I seriously recommend popping in some movies while you’re doing this.
Third, I made up some cards with a cute poem on the back (I got the glitter paper from Michael’s), tied the paper chain and poem together, and added a tag with the girl’s name (also made from the glitter paper).
This project probably cost about $5.00 total (not including postage to mail them). I just used sparkle paper in assorted colours and patterns that I had left over from other projects. I used regular printer paper for the paper chains because I didn’t want to go and buy special craft paper 😉 I do think it would have been sturdier if I had used different paper. The thickness of the sparkle paper definitely helped strengthen them. I used crayons to colour their hair and markers for their faces/names. Oh and I used regular white glue to do all the gluing.
So far only two of my girls have received their cards. Hopefully the rest will arrive today. I’m going to give the one to my mom in person (: One of my bridesmaids said she cried as soon as she opened it and was tearing up on the phone when she called me about it. The time put into this project was so worth it!
If you have any questions just ask (:
