YES! I had the box of left over chicken wings on my bar My cat knocked it off (while I was in the tub) & when I came through I saw it so bent over to pick it up & ALL of the 14 bones inside was GONE! My poor dog ate them all! I called the vet & will be watching her over night for anything out of the ordinary but I am still worried! I fed her 4 pieces of bread & I am now just hoping she will be fine. PLEASE tell me your dog has ate lots of bones and been okay?

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: Oh no! π I’m so glad she didn’t choke while eating them. That’s always a plus. I’m not sure about them being digested and such though. Please keep us updated.

@Rouquine: I will! I am as well! & I feel so beyond stupid for leaving them there. The trash is full & I haven’t bagged it up yet so I just put the box on the bar until this evening & now I am kicking myself HARD!
@eloping: I have NO idea! π

@Rouquine: Thanks! I just wish we had a 24 hour emergency vet close by but sadly we do not. π We only have TWO vets & they both close at 5. They have someone there to take their calls though & I let them know. They told me to watch her over night & bring her in if anything happens. That left me feeling worse. π

Ahhh! I would be a wreck, silly Poms!
She should be fine. Just keep an eye on her stool for any blood traces and ensure that she is “regular” with going potty.

Ideally she needs to be checked out by a vet. Chicken bones can splinter in a dog’s stomach. Even if she seems fine, she could have internal bleeding which might not be apparent for days. Keep a very close eye on her for a few days – any blood in her vomit or poop is a VERY bad sign and you would need to get her to a vet asap.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: Honestly don’t worry!!! My fiance grew up on a farm so is very “whatever the dog eats is fine” kinda guy. Our doggy eats like full out chicken carcases all the time (freaks me out!! but hubs just says “its a DOG!” lol) and we have never had any issues at all π
Also, I am pretty sure the danger of cooked chicken bones is when they are actually swallowing them (they can splinter and cut their throat) so if she appears fine then she most likely IS π So no worries π

@Treejewel19: Thanks for the tips! I put down puppy pads so every poop she takes I will be INSPECTING it all over in & out!
I just couldn’t believe she ate them all but she really did! There was proof all over my area rug & all in her fur!

Yeah, you’re definitely on poopie patrol… watch for struggling to go and not being able to, vomiting, or bloody poopie. FWIW, my great dane at a shit ton of chocolate (the good kind too) and some coffee beans and was ok. She’s over 115 pounds so that helped, but I was still kind of nervous about it. Hugs!!!

My 10 lb shih tzu ate some chicken wings they came out but she had a hard time pushing them out so we had to help by pulling them out… Yikes!

My dog (similar size) ate a bag of mini Reese cups the otherday and lived to bark about it. I’m sure your little furbaby will be ok with careful watch and if you grow to concerned take her to a vet.

I know cats and dogs are different but my cat is constantly ravaging cooked chicken bones when he shouldn’t and he’s always been fine. Keep an eye on him, sure, but he should be okay.
