My dog had to go to the vet on Tuesday bc he was very obviously in pain. He was diagnosed with mild acute pancreatitis. Since it was mild and he hates the being at the vet, he got sent home with us with a variety of meds. to keep him comfortable and help him with the recovery. The vet said that he should make a full recovery bc his #s are on the low end. Since Tues. he has started drink on his own but hasn’t eaten since tuesday night. He is definetely getting better bc he is greet everyone at the door and he is drinking water on his own which he was not Wed morning.
Has anyone gone through this too? How long did it take ure pet to recover?

My dog got that when she was around 3 – she was pretty sick with it, had to be overnight at the vets, on IV, etc, but she was home in a day or two and recovered just fine. It was so long ago I don’t remember how fast it took but she fully recovered and I don’t remember it being a lengthy process. Hers sounds like it was even a little more advanced than yours so I wouldn’t worry, I think he’ll be just fine!

@sunnywoods: One of our dogs got this this past Saturday. She was put on a restricted diet of boiled chicken and rice and she would not even eat it until this past Tuesday. By Wednesday she was eating, and today she was running around and pouncing the other dogs. She still is on the rice diet until tomorrow when we can start introducing her regular food back, but shes is acting like herself again. I hope that you have the same experience, and your pup gets better quickly.

Awwwww poor puppy! My dog had pancreatitis about a year and a half ago! So, totally understand how worries you are. My dog also has had bladdstones so one now eats prescripton diabetic (tho she is not diabetic) dog food and she is doing great ,haven’t had any issues since. Hope your dog feels better soon 🙂

A girlfriend of mine’s dog had this. She is an older dog, but pulled through fine.
They had to take the dog to the vet several days for IVs and spent a lot of money on her. The vet didn’t even think the dog would pull through, but she did!
