- Wedding: April 2013 - A court...
I got her when she was around 6 months but this was last year, she never had a problem with us before. A few months ago she started peeing when dh would put her leash on and since he rarely walks her we thought nothing of it. I’ve always put her leash on like I always do and a few days ago she started doing it with me too 🙁 we live in an apartment so I can’t let her go leashless ( I trust her not to run off but there’s always people outside and she gets frightened easily). so far I’ve been trying to hope shell stop but she keeps doing it, and we live in a carpeted apt :-/

Sounds like fear or submission urination to me. Has she ever been hit with a leash? Has whomever owned her before you ever hit her with the leash? Has she ever been tugged harshly because of frustration/pulling/etc?
I would start working on boosting her confidence and trust of the leash.

Is your dog a smaller breed?
We have had a couple of small dogs who would get SOOOO excited to go for a walk, that they pee a little on the floor. They would pick up on signs that I was going for a walk. (putting shoes on, getting lead etc).

I agree that it sounds like a fear reaction. She may just have had a bad experience outside. To stop the peeing when you put the leash on you should try keeping it on you and just clipping it on, giving her a treat and then taking it off again. You can give another treat after this. Do this in diferent parts of the house at different times and her fear of the leash itself should decrease. Then you will need to work on her fear of going outside. Try to make it the most positive experience possible. Good luck!
