We bought our bridesmaid dresses the pther day after finally finding a dress all of the girls were happy with thankfully! I love them, and it is a dress I want to buy for myself after seeing it 🙂 I also got my dress a couple of months ago. Both my dress, and the girls dresses, are chiffon over satin material for our summer wedding next July.
I love the bridesmaid dresses & although I’ve had a few wobbles about my dress because it wasn’t what I expected to like at all, but when I put it on I didn’t want to take it off so that was the dress, one of my bridesmaids has now told me she thinks that the combination of my dress/the bridesmaid dresses is maybe too simple or plain. She has told me before that she thinks my dress is very undetailed and simple anyway, so I think that is what she means. I’m just curious though – do you think the combination is too plain & simple & I need to look at dressing it up more somehow, or does it seem ok? Not sure if I’m missing it really!

I think both dresses are great, I love the little pattern on the waist. I think you should do an amazing statement necklace to go with your dress though, its simple enough that you can overdo the accessories. And if you found a nice chunky necklace for the BMs that would work too.

Love the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses! Once you have your hair and makeup done, some nice shoes and a bit of jewellery on it won’t look plain at all. Will you have a bouquet to match the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses?

There’s nothing wrong with a simple dress. I think it looks beautiful. Dresses don’t have to be OTT to be gorgeous.

Thanks ladies, that is a very good point about shoes/hair/make up etc! Have found my shoes, purple ones to match bridesmaid dresses, & the girls are trying to find silvery/grey shoes of their choice that they like.
The unsuspecting bride – the plan is for sunflowers as the main part of our bouquets, with purple in there somehow as the purple & yellow combo seems to go well & be bright & sunny enough (here’s hoping it is actually sunny!) similar to the pic I’ve attached. I see you are getting married a week before us also in the UK, although we are up in Scotland, so fingers crossed for some good weather during the UK summer 🙂

In my opinion, there’s no such thing as “too simple.” In general, I prefer a simpler aesthetic and I think your dress and Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are all very pretty and will look excellent together!

Your dress is beautiful. The bridesmaids dresses are beautiful. They will look beautiful next to each other.

I LOVE the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress! The combo with your dress will be very clean and classy.

Simpler is classier, but I have never seen a wedding dress that was too simple.

No i think it’s chic elegance. I want my wedding to be clean lines and simple. Everything doesn’t have to be flashy to be great! Congrats!

Thanks ladies, a bit of reassurance goes a long way 🙂 It is hard with my bridesmaid saying that as I know she doesn’t particularly like my dress because it is simple I guess (she got married this summer & I was her Maid/Matron of Honor, so we were looking for dresses at similar times but like very different dresses!), but that is ok, but as the other two bridesmaids haven’t seen my dress yet as they live further away, it was really hard to have her saying that to my other bridesmaids when looking for their dresses as it was influencing them in what they felt they could suggest as dresses! Just glad we found one we all like, and I like my dress so I will just ignore the ‘plain’ comments 🙂

i think your dress choices are lovely.. i wouldnt listen to the Bridesmaid or Best Man who thinks its too simple… this is your wedding and as long as you like the combo, you should stick with it

I think the simplicity is wonderful. I personally don’t like crazy-busy dresses, but the point is that everyone should have what is pretty to them! I’m kinda weirded out that your bridesmaid was making those comments especially when she got to have her own thing already….how would she feel if someone told her that her dress was tacky? Anyway, you seem to have a great attitude about it and I say keep on keepin on 🙂 Ignoring her comments is the best way to go, YOU know you’ll look good!
