- Wedding: June 2011
Hello all, I’m pretty darn new here but I’ve been looking here for inspiration and also just to look at pretty dresses for a while and now that I finally have a dress I wanted to share!
Before I started looking I had hoped to find a 50s glam dress and I don’t know if I could be much happier with it! (excuse the poor photos, it had been a long day, I explain below)
It is True Bride W925:
The colour is light gold or antique, it’s like a very milky latte, very soft. And it has lace and a bit of sparkle on it and that great tulle skirt!
Me finding a dress has all been a bit dramatic! I’m getting married in June and just put my deposit down a week ago. I’ve not had much dress searching time because while I booked my venue last June a family member has been incredibly unwell and I could really only start looking in December.
I tried this dress on early on in the searching and could not stop thinking about it but wanted to be sure that I didn’t want to go for something floorlength so I think I tried on over 30 odd dresses. Finally I made up my mind that I wanted to try this on again, but the first time I tried it on was over 250miles away from home so I started the hunt to find a version of it nearer.
Just over a week ago I travelled about an hour to try it on, the shop didn’t have the right size, or colour but as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted this dress. I phoned my mum as she has kindly offered to buy my dress for me and put a deposit on it the very next morning, a sunday. On the Monday the lady from the shop phoned to tell me that truebride couldn’t do the order 🙁 Apparently the earliest they can get it delivered by is July…I phoned truebride directly and explained why I was so late in ordering and how much I wanted it and the woman I spoke too was one of the designers there and she explained that maybe one of the shops would sell their sample to me and if it wasn’t in the right size I could have it adjusted (like putting in a corset back or something) and she spent ages looking, then all of a sudden she found the right colour and size in a shop less than 40mins drive from me! As soon as I could get away from work I drove like the wind to get there and tried it on, and I loved it. I’m not even sure I’ll need adjustments…I’m going back at the beginning of May to try it on with shoes and more bridal underwear (once I’ve decided those things…)
It will be kept as a sample dress in the shop, but wrapped in plastic and only brought out when needed, but as the lady cant get a relpacement until July I feel that this is alright for me as she knows it’s my dress and will keep it in great condition.
Anyways, what do you think?
