I just wanted to share my journey. I did what everyone says not to do and ordered my dress small in order to keep my goal of shedding 30 pounds before the wedding. I’m happy to say that by the time my dress came in I was able to zip it. Still working on the sitting down part. I lost 15 pounds between the time I ordered to the arrival by sticking to 1200 calories a day (killer) and working out 3 to 4 days a week. I joined Curves and worked my way up to the Jillian Michaels/Curves program. Originally this size was about 3-4 inches away from zipping. Now I’m on my final 15 pounds and I still have a few months left to pull it off. Here is a picture of my zipped dress! So excited. I’ll post updates as I progress with my weight loss. Now for the dress porn.
Sadly my boobs were the first to go so the bust is pretty big but I still have a lot of work to do on my hips and waist. Why do the boobs have to be the first to go?
See that sassy hand on my hip. That sass came when I felt the zipper go all the way up.

you look great!!! I’m currently trying to Slim down for my gown, too! Isn’t it just horrible that bookbs go first? I just do not understand that! A cruel world…

KittyCatToe: My bridal store made me sign a waiver saying if the dress doesn’t fit me, it is not their fault! I ordered the sample size which almost didn’t zip at all. They squeezed me in there and the dress was screaming for help. I’m down 16 since. It comes in soon (next couple of weeks!) I’m hoping I have a success story just like yours!
Congratulation girl, good for you!!!

KittyCatToe: How many sizes smaller from what they sized you as, did you order it? I need to order my dress and since I’m 8 months away, I’d love to lose 50lbs by the wedding. I wouldn’t order 5 sizes smaller, but maybe 2 because I’m sure I can lose 30 if not the ultimate 50. I don’t want to be too ambitious but don’t want the dress to be so huge that it can’t be altered. I know I will lose some. Your dress looks great btw

kaylee26: Thank you so much! It’s been a lot of hard work.
racheltea: Seriously! After the first 3 weeks of this diet I needed new bras but of course my jean size took much longer. Womp womp.
MrsPiggles: That’s exciting! I’m thinking you will be fine with the 16 pounds lost. My fingers are crossed for you. Good job with the loss, I know how much work goes into it.
crzyorchid: I ordered 2 sizes smaller. I think I could have gone down further if I went with a ball gown but I was to afraid to go lower with this dress.

KittyCatToe: Eeee love this thread, I did the exact same, tried the sample UK size 12 and it was perfect but a tiiiiny bit looser in the hips than I wanted so I ordered a size 10 and convinced myself I could lose 30lbs before it arrived in September…trouble is it arrived 2 months early(wtf!?)& I have to pick it up in 3 weeks, I’ve lost 10lbs of the 30lb goal so far so I’m not holding my breath(pun intended)that it will fit! Your dress is gorgeous and makes your figure look great!

That dress is beautiful and you look beautiful in it! Congratulations on your weight loss! I was really upset when my boobs got smaller too, but you can always put more things in your dress (pads), but can’t put in any less lol

raspberrymojito: Some before pictures. This is me trying on another dress 15 pounds heavier. I was stuffed into that sample. As you can see I used to have lots of boobage. LOL It was hard to find a before picture because I was always avoiding the camera. The only plain clothed one I could find is this one at the beach and I’m not facing forward. I went up another 5 pounds or so after this picture was taken and my hips and legs were pretty thick at this point.
tinkks: Oh yes, I’ll be adding some pads to fill out the top. LOL
BreezyBride24: Thank you so much! Yes it is the 9051. I watched your thread while your gown was being made and I was so excited to see your recap. I just love what you did to the back!
NYE2014: You can do it! I’m not going to lie it sucks but the payoff has been worth it.
LudaRae: LOL I think we might be the only ones who would be upset about the dress arriving early. I have a feeling you will be fine. 10 pounds down already and only one size smaller. You got this girl.

KittyCatToe: Great work, looking good! I did a 1200 cal a day program too when I was losing weight – I was so glad when I could up my cals, haha. I think it was a good decision to order the smaller size – the shop ordered me the size I was when I bought it and it cost me $500 in alterations as I had dropped another dress size by the time the wedding came around.
