- Wedding: August 2011
I got to try on my dress for the first time this past weekend. They don’t want to start alterations until 6 weeks before the wedding. It was AWESOME to finally see the dress (I tried it on in a size 12 so it was HUGE and in a different color), but it’s a little sad to have to just give it back for them to hold and not get more play time, and now I’m getting all worried about the alterations!
It will need to be taken in a bit in the waist, bust (it was falling down and I had to keep tugging), and the hips (but not too much that I can’t sit down!), and it makes me wonder if they really should have order me 1 size smaller than this. The measurements matched the size chart pretty well, so I think maybe it would have been too tight in one of the dimensions had they done that. Anyway, too late to change that now! I’m also 5’1″ (i’m not wearing shoes in this picture, and I’ll be wearing almost 4 inch heels so that’ll help), but it’ll still need to be hemmed (it’s all floor length, no train).
on top of all that, I went to my appointment all alone, so the consultant was kind of just wanting to get me in and out. just a little disappointing, I wanted it to be more fun and perfect!
What do you think?? and do you think this is gonna be super hard to alter to fit right, or does this look relatively standard??
and for reference, the designer pic…
