My beautiful dress came in today, a little early (my wedding isn’t until next year)! When I tried it on, I loved it and I felt like a princess (my mom told me so
) but I have a couple hesitations about the dress and me being in the dress.
1. A reason I feel in love with the dress was the bottom of the dress with all the layers and layers of tulle and how dramatic and beautiful it is however its very hard to walk and sit down in the dress.
What should I do or get? The lady helping me suggested a crinoline and it did not help AT ALL, it actually added to the heaviness of the dress and kept falling down. My Bridesmaid or Best Man suggested a hoop. Anyone put a hoop under their dress? Did it help you walk?
2. At the salon when I tried on my dress, I looked in the mirror and I loved it but when I got home and looked through the photos of me in the dress, I look FAT! I know some of you might say I’m silly but that is how I feel. Should I lose some weight? Is the belt the problem?
3. I am also hesitant about where the neckline sits on me. Is it too high?
Please help me bees!
Thanks!

You look skinny and gorgoeus to me and I know the camera can add ten pounds!
The dress is stunning. Yes it could be resttrictive , hot and a host of other things but its your wedding day!! Its the one day in your life time you can wear an off the hook dress and get a way with it.
It will grow on you and you will work out the kinds. You have a good year so while its pretty early, you have plenty of time to adjust it.

the only thing i can’t speak to is the weight of the dress. i never tried a hoop, but from what i hear, it might give you some space and ventilation, so its probably worth trying out.
as for looking fat, if you really believe that then i think you have body dysmorphic disorder! you are anything BUT fat! you are model skinny! if you lose weight, you look TOO skinny! (yes, thats possible).
and i think the neckline is good too, doesnt look too high to me.
overall i think the dress is gorgeous and looks gorgeous on you!

your gown is gorgeous and you look great! You are the farthest thing from fat! I wore a hoop skirt under mygown and it helped a lot. It made it easier for me to walk and kept me from getting too hot. My gown was really heavy and having a hoop underneath saved me!

FAT!? Umm, NO! You look amazing in that dress. The secret to sitting is – where the tulle folds when you sit, grab it there and pull it up, it is the same with a hoop skirt. It just take practice.

@SandyL: you look amazing. I wont tell you how you dont need to loose weight because i am sure everyone else will for me. But maybe you could work on your core or arms or whatever you think to make you feel more comfortable. tone up. Obviously you look flawless but if you think there are areas to work on than you should do so. but i dont think you should diet or try to loose weight.
I love the neckline the way it is. please dont lower it! no suggestions for the skirt unfortunatly…sorry

@KristenGotMarried: I agree.
Where do you see fat? Seriously. Where?
I think the dress is amazing on you, but please don’t start saying you are fat when you are clearly not. It’s annoying to those of us with real weight issues and not body image issues. If you have the latter, then you need therapy because not one person on this forum is going to tell you that yeah…you might need to lose some weight.
Sorry to be so blunt, but sometimes it just needs to be said.

A. Please point out the fat. I have inspected the image and can’t find it. 😉
B. Pnina Tornai uses hoops in her heavier dresses. Perhaps your friend had the right idea!

@SandyL: OMG if you look fat, i’m a friggin cow. 🙁
seriously, you look great. i don’t understand girls thinking they’re fat, honestly…you included. it really makes me feel awful about my own figure. anyway, you look great, the belt looks great, the neckline looks great. honestly, the whole picture is stunning, so i don’t really know where you’re coming from there. a hoop might help you walk but then you run into the “swinging bell” issue (your skirt swings around your ankles from your hips like a bell), and also the front will stick WAY out when you sit. did you try just hiking it up a little before sitting?
@Miss Tattoo: thank you for saying it. 🙂

seriously I would kill to look that “fat” in my wedding dress, you’re absolutely tiny and look amazing in your dress, i’m so jealous! I don’t think I could fit in enough exercise between now and my wedding next year to look that good so please please don’t feel anything but fabulous!!!!
Re: walking, a hoop should definitely help, you could get a cheap one on ebay to try it out, it keeps all the fabric off of your legs.

I looked at the pic before I read what you wrote and I actually said “wow” out loud. Your waist looks so defined and you look AMAZING!
Not fat at all! Do not lose a pound!

Okay, sorry to be blunt, but when a tiny girl says she looks fat it always makes me feel disgusting…I really wish it didn’t, but I would keep it to yourself that you think you look “fat”…you look fine and if you want more than fine, fish for compliments somewhere else.
I agree with the hoop, it will lighten the load, just practice walking in it so you don’t do that kicking the hoop thing down the isle.

I am not going to speak to the “fat” comment, bc I think the bees covered it. With regards to the neckline, I do think it could be a tad lower, but I dont think its necessary, and may not even be possible.
