Wow, I’ve seen that dress purchased so much on SYTYD.

Honestly, I think if the belt wasn’t contrasted and was just plain white.. The dress wouldn’t even look designer.

Not to be rude, but with the white belt (in the photoshopped photo) it looks like a dress from David’s Bridal.

The darker tone of the belt MAKES the dress. It looks sophisticated, fashion forward and picks up the tone of your hair. With the white belt? Meh.

AdaLee- I just realized when I made the edit (showing a whiter version of flowers) that my edit had also took some of the warmth out of the crystals and made them more silvery looking than they would probably be in real life. I made the edits below leaving the original warmth of the crystals, and just turning the flower/ribbons white.

Its hard to say how difficult alterations on the belt would be without looking at the dress up close. If the bulk areas of crystals (like the center of the main flower) are sewn onto a backing and then attached to the dress I don’t think it would be too difficult to have whiter ribbon replaced. But if all those crystals are sewn directly onto the dress…. what a nightmare. This kind of work is called ribbon embroidery, basically ribbon that is sewn down in shapes to form a flower. You could always buy a roll of white ribbon in a similar size, and using pins on some scrap fabric make a mock-up to see if you like the white ribbon in real life better. At the end of the day you need to love it.

If you want any other edits just let me know and I’ll do them tomorrow.

if it really bugs you than you need to try out other belts, start looking Now.  You can get some very inexpensive belts on eBay and there is etsy too, and a million other places.

I woudl go with a glittery crystal and pearl belt….

The original dress is great. However until I saw the photo shopped version (2), I thought the same color belt would be even better.  Personally I like the original better. That being said, it is your dress and your wedding. You have to be happy with the dress; not me, not the alterations department.

I am concerned that no one at the store could tell you about the belt color before hand. To my mind, they should have informed you about the different color of the belt when you ordered the dress. And they definitely should have been able to answer your question about it.

AdaLee:  Such a beautiful dress!  And I definitely like the contrast on the belt.  But to each their own.  Lazaro is a such an amazing designer… always pushing the limits.  I too, will be  Lazaro bride.

I thought point of a belt was to add to the dress. If it all blended together, why have a belt?  I think it looks amazing.

AdaLee:  The dress wouldn’t look as good with another belt? I actually think it WILL. I personally just don’t like the belt and think it’s not doing the dress any favors. So get a new belt and don’t worry.

The top may be big, but that’s what alterations are for, and a good padded pushup bra. Undergarments are key!

Cheer up!

viannqueen did a beautiful job editing the pictures so you can see what it would look like if it were a matching shade of white. That said, I think the dress looks way cheaper without contrast. I tried on the dress myself and I think the contrast with the belt is one of the things that makes the dress go from “standard white cupcake” to “playful, interesting, feminine”.

I think this is just one of those moments where you have to physically take a deep breath, let it out, and then repeat to yourself, “I guess this is just one of the things that happens when planning a wedding. It is a minor detail compared to the fact that I am getting freaking married. I will still look amazingly beautiful in this dress and looking back on the pictures, my older self will point out ‘look how happy I was that day,’ and not even care that the belt of all things was not perfectly right.” The sooner you make your peace with it, the better.. because life goes on and the belt really, truly, truly, will not matter at all unless you let it.

Sorry, but I really don’t like the white ps belt version. It just doesn’t look designer anymore. the original is gorgeous on you.

I think the contrast with the original belt is lovely, it’s much more fashion forawrd and IMO really makes the dress a stand out. The ‘matchy matchy’ look just isn’t as striking to me and with a designer dress like that you really want to make the most impact.

AdaLee:  the girl doing the editing also gave me another idea.  Leave it alone and just have the album pics and portrait pics edit your belt to what ever white you want.  That way you will have what you want for posterity if you don’t want to change the belt.  No one will remember.  My husband and I did another photo shoot one month after the wedding, clearly his hair was longer, mine shorter and his bow tie was the wrong color, mens wearhouse goofed, we were on railroad tracks, the beach his motorcycle not one person noticed.  LoL.

The dress is very beautiful. I understand what you mean by the color though. I think that would bother me as well. It gives the dress character but if it isnt what you wanted, then I would talk to the store.
