(Closed) My dress came in and now I’m super insecure about it. Are pickups really so bad?

Wow. That dress is GORGEOUS! You look beautiful.

Pickups might be something that are currently trendy and popular, but that will be a good thing (kinda like the 1950s birdcage veils and vintagey tea-length dresses that are SOO back in now. Because they’re gorgeous.) And don’t forget that all these trends that seem overdone on wedding blogs will be totally new to all your guests! Just do what feels right and looks good on you (your current dress included in the ‘things that look good on you’).

Yea, that dress is really pretty. I think it’s perfect and the pickups are great!

I agree with

@kumquat11: I think wedding trends are something to be embraced! Think how fun it is to go through vintage wedding photos–part of that is looking at the different trends and fashions and how they change! And how they are all beautiful in their own way.

YAY we can see photos!!! The dress is GORGEOUS on you! The pickups are perfect as is, in my opinion. ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t let the haters here get to you. People bashing dress styles, designers, etc, spend more time being snarky rather than applying that energy toward something positive..I wouldn’t take it so personally. I had to develop a thick skin to browse around here in order to not snap at anyone calling the things I like ugly. It’s all subjective and a matter of taste and we can’t all like the same things, thank goodness, though things should be worded with more tact IMO.

What matters is how amazing it looks on you and how you feel in it!

It’s not that it’s distasteful, lots of dresses have them so obviously lots of people like them. I personally don’t like them for myself, but that dress looks beautiful on you ๐Ÿ™‚ don’t worry about it

I say don’t worry! I personally love pickups and love the dress on you! I think that as long as you love it, that’s all that matters!

I love the pickups and I think you might be making a mistake to have them released! The look is extremely elegant and sophisticated, I would keep it exactly as it is!

I have pickups on my dress and I LOVE them!!! Pickups are so elegant! I say you go with what you want/like, now what the hive likes. There are always going to be a difference of opinions. You look beautiful!!!!!! Your pickups are also very soft looking, very pretty ๐Ÿ™‚

My dress has pickups too (and waaaay more than yours does! it is full of pickups!). I never DIDN’T like pickups, but I wasn’t necessarily looking for a dress with them either. Some dresses I saw with them seemed “cupcakey” to me, but I LOVE my dress and wouldn’t change a thing about it! So as long as you love the way you look in it, I think that’s all that matters! And I completely agree with everyone else that is is about personal preference. I don’t really like lace for me, but it looks gorgeous on other girls!!! And, I definately won’t go around the boards telling girls lace is horrid and to stay away or anything like that! Lace is beautiful for the people who love it! And I don’t think people at your wedding will even notice. Rock that dress and all they will be looking at is YOU!

I didn’t post on this earlier because I’m not the biggest fan of pickups, but that dress is AMAZING! I wouldn’t have thought those were pickups. I think of Beauty and the Beast’s gold dress when I think of pick ups.

I think you look STUNNING!!!!!!!! From what I can see, the dress looks AWESOME on you!! I think, as PP’s said, it’s normal to have second guesses about your dress, but remember why you loved it, and the way you felt in it. Every bride is unique and different, so their wedding dresses should be different too, right? I think you will ROCK IT!! ๐Ÿ™‚

You look gorgeous and the dress fits wonderfully.  Don’t worry about what others think as long as you feel like like the most beautiful woman in the world.  As other Bees indicated, dress styles are constantly changing.  In 40yrs, our kids will be wondering what we were thinking.

I personally wanted to wear more of a flamenco style dress w/ a low back cause it would accentuate my figure.  Instead I’m wearing a sheath strapless.  Not what I thought I would wear for my wedding but I look like the Most Beautiful Woman in the World and my Honee will definitely cry.
