KapOct18:  Drink more water and stay active. I had the same problem with my dress, 3 weeks out it wouldn’t button up I lost the weight and my dress fit perfect for the wedding. You can do it! Try not to stress too much that will definitely make it worse.

KapOct18:  can you post a pic? There are a lot of people on the boards who are good with alterations. It may be that they can give you some tips about places to let it out. At least ten pounds in three weeks sounds hard, potentially unhealthy, and is probably more stress than you need right now. letting it out a tiny bit may take some if the pressure off.

When you went to your fitting what did the seamstress say when it wouldn’t zip?  Did she offer up alterations that could be done to let it out and make it fit?

Ten pounds in 3 weeks is a lot.  If you eat when you are stressed you need to switch out what you typically eat with at least healthier options.  So if you grab a donut usually, grab a carrot instead. Definitely not the same but at least you still get to eat.  The worst thing you could do is try not to eat and then go on a crazy binge when you finally break.  So munch on veggies whenever you feel the need to stress eat.  Also up your water intake and cut out salt because your weight gain could possibly be more bloat then actual fat.

When you are at work force yourself to get up every hour and walk around your building.  Set an alarm or outlook reminder.  Also fit in a long walk when you get home in the evening.  Not only will this help with your weight but it will also help to relieve some stress.

I did a weight loss challenge last summer and in six weeks lost 23 lbs.  It was with a gym in my area but I do have the diet that we had to follow if you want that.  I will send it to you just let me know.  Many people at my gym have lost tons of weight doing these challenges.  It is hard to stick to the diet plan but three weeks is pretty easy.  It is about week 8 where I was about to go CRAZY!

cut sodas – ALL (artificial sweeteners do funky things to your body chemistry) and as much sugar as possible.  I’ve known people to lose 10 lbs from cutting sodas and sugary drinks alone.  Drink unsweet tea, water, mineral water/club soda with no sweeteners, instead a slice of lemon or lime (it’s a good soda substitute).

Try soemthingn like St. John’s Wort, Valeraian root or Kava Kava to help with the stress – less stress, less stress eating.  Make sure you are sleeping (note – if you take birth control, St. John’s Wort can make it less effective).  Lack of slseep adds to stress, which increases cortisol, increasing weght gain and impeding loss.  I believe my trouble with weight loss over the last few years has been my insomnia and really high stress levels – as I am getting that under control, the weight is moving, finally.

Drink lots of water.  Lots.  Try a small amount of orange juice, like a shot glass, spalshed into a tall glass of water right when you wake up.  Don’t eat immediately – try to wait until you are actaully hungry, and then eat at your desk a portion controlled breakfast or snack.

How much time do you ahve before the October wedding?  Did the seamstress offer any ideas to help?

I hate this diet and everything it stands for but try doing the Dukan Diet. You will loose about 6-7 lbs the first week at least

With 3 weeks to go you have exactly enough time for the 21 day fix by Autumn Calabrese! People lose anywhere from 5-15 pounds and countless inches off their body! I lost 7 pounds my first round and many inches (I didn’t measure myself but it’s noticeable to me and the people around me). I love it!

KapOct18:

I was also going to say 21 day fix. Or, look up the Whole 30 and follow that eating plan until your wedding. Since you cut all carbs, alcohol, dairy, and sugar you drop weight pretty quickly.

Whatever you do, don’t stress too much! I am totally a stress eater too, but recently I learned a bit about mindful eating and something the person said stuck with me: when you feel stressed and want to eat, take a step back and figure out what you really need, because it probably isn’t food. It might be a nap, it might be a bath, it might just be other human connection. So next time you feel stressed and want to eat a bag of chips or something, just try doing something else and see if it helps. Maybe it’s exercise or a nice walk, or some yoga to help with the stress.

You are going to look gorgeous at your wedding, and the day is going to be wonderful no matter what happens. You’re getting married!!!!

Umm, yeah did the seamstress say the only way to fix it was to lose 10 lbs? There’s no way I could lose that much so fast unless I starved myself and made myself lightheaded and miserable.

KapOct18:  Yes cutting carbs will do it, but I don’t advise exercising as well. Your body will be adjusting to a dramatic decrease in carbs, I don’t think stressing it with exercise is a good idea at all, you probably won’t even have the energy initially. If you feel up to it, I’d suggest walking but nothing too strenuous. You’re going to be miserable around day 3 (tired, hungry, probably have a headache) but if you want this you have to get through the discomfort/pain. It will pass and you will start feeling so much better and be estactic when you fit in the dress!

Eat lots of protein and veggies. If you eat dairy, include cheese and Greek yogurt. Sunflower seeds help keep you feeling full too. Look up starchy veggies and avoid those and fruit (sugar) while you’re trying to lose this weight.  Drink lots of water, you should be tired of going to the bathroom you should be going so much, it’s your body getting rid of all the water weight because it doesn’t need it since you’re not eating a lot of carbs.

I speak from personal experience… I lost 19lbs NO exercise by decreasing my carb/sugar intake and eliminating alcohol, 10 of those lbs I lost the first 2 weeks (I did not allow myself to cheat). I am no longer overweight (according to the BMI chart).

Good Luck!!

At least you still have time to get it fixed!

My dress fit fine at my last alterations, but a month later on the day of my wedding I had a hard time fitting into it! 🙁 I squeezed in and was so uncomfortable the rest of the day!
