@jsrt2012:    When you say it’s not hitting your body like the sample did –  Do you mean the fit isn’t the same because the waist/hip measurements are falling in the correct spots now?  Or are you refering to the fabric?

If you are upset because the fabric doesn’t seem as flowy, more stiff, I would speak to the seamstress. It sounds like a good steaming should fix that.

Besides the length, is your dress the same size as the sample one?

@jsrt2012:  Do you have pics of you in the actual dress?  A seamstress can usually help a lot in adjusting the fit.  And I agree with the PP that you should also have it steamed to make the fabric less stiff (if it’s the fabric that’s the problem).

@jsrt2012:  If it’s not quite hugging you the same, if you lost or gained weight – or even if your weight stayed the same – working out or diet can re-allocate weight. A good seamstress will be able to alter it to make it huge your body correctly.

That’s why we have first fittings, second fitting, third fittings 🙂

As far as the fabric, a good steaming or two should help loosen up the fabric. Also, almost any fabric gains more flexibility once it’s “warm” to your body. Basically you’ve been in it – moving around – the fabric is next to your warm body and gains flexibility.

It’s that way for any dress, it’s also why corset dresses should actually be laced and re-laced.

Hmmm.  I would ask the seamstress.  It just seems that the sample would be softer because of all of the times it’s been tried on and jostled around.  Or maybe the lace is from a different lot.

Just like yours, my dress was the same size as the sample, but in a custom hollow to hem length.  But my new dress felt exactly the same as the sample because I was the first bride to ever try that sample on.

Sounds like it was made with a different fabric?

@jsrt2012:  Which part is stiff? The lace? Could It be that the sample was worn in from so many people trying it on? I’ve wondered about this too, I ordered a dress similar to what you’re describing. it’s the Allure 8800

It’s probably because of your weight change!

When I picked up running, I only lost four pounds, but I went down two pant sizes!

A good seamstress should be able to fix it!
