It’ll come with one! Mine was white and not transparent.

Depends on the shop. Just call and ask.

I second that it depends on the shop.

JohnandMaureen:  They come in bags, don’t worry! Fiance won’t see anything 🙂

They come in a garment bag that are usually opaque, but it does depend on the store.

If you are worried about hair getting stuck to the garment bag or your dog’s nails accidentally ripping it, bring along a big black garbage bag,  and cut a hole to go over the hanger and cover the garment bag with the garbage bag as an extra layer of protection 🙂

My garment bag was white, opaque cloth and it was monsooning the day I picked up my dress so I got a large heavy duty garbage bag and did what I suggested to you up top just in case it fell or got wet, etc…

Also, since your fiance is coming with you, make him wait outside or in the car when you go in until you are certain that the dress is safely hidden inside the bag. You don’t want him to accidentally see it.

When I got to my pickup appointment my dress was there with the garment bag open and then they pulled out the dress to make me confirm that nothing was wrong with it before I paid my final balance. Only then did they arrange it inside the garment bag and zip it up. Luckily, it was just my mom that came with me that day.

Depending on your dress – mine took up the whole back seat- i have a ball gown style. There is no way my dog and my dress would fit together….it could probably have been shoved in the trunk, but that isn’t ideal for your beautiful dress.

Can’t you just put your dress in the trunk so your dog doesn’t destroy the dress?

Just don’t leave your dress in the back seat of the car unattended. Maybe it’s just an urban legend, but I remember hearing about people whose wedding dresses have been stolen when they left them in the car. Totally unrelated to your post, I know, but I thought of it when you said you were going on a road trip to pick up your dress.

You can always bring a garment bag?
