I actually read an article where it said it’s safe to wash most wedding gowns on the delicate cycle! I’m not sure if it’s true and don’t think I’ll try it myself, but I’m sure it will be fine ๐Ÿ™‚

I think on gentle cycle, especially in a polyester, it should be ok. My mom used to work for a dry cleaner, and she never takes a thing there and washes it all at home instead, including wedding dresses for friends/family.

Also, my eyes misread part of your username in the post title at first and I thought this said “My cat is in the washing machine”… which would be way worse!

@aliavenue:  (Not topic related) you are one of the most positive people on wedding bee… thank you for being awesome.

Topic related: If you haven’t done anything with it and you don’t plan to do anything with it and its polyestster I can’t see why you couldn’t try… its probably going to be pretty wrinkely, but it will also be clean!

I think another bee made a post about machine washing her own dress and it came out beautifully (or I have an exceptionally overactive imagination!).

    Good luck!

Awesome, I want to do this with mine as well!! Are you planning on putting it in the dryer as well?

I took my dress in from a size 0 too, and I can’t seem to get it sold. If your dress turns out well, I might have to try this ๐Ÿ˜›
