I am sure it is a common situation.   Or, on SYTTD it is.

Aside from your worry I hope your dress puts a big smile on your face.  🙂

It hasn’t happened to me though I’m having my first dress fitting in 3 weeks and I am worried as I haven’t lost anymore that it’ll be a little snug!

could they put in a corset back? You still have plenty of time to lose a little weight. If you want to.

Between buying my dress and altering it my doctor put me on medication that made me gain weight. My tailor had to piece in strips he cut from the train (I planned to cut a significant portion of the train off so there was plenty of extra fabric) so that the dress would zip. It was a bit embarrassing, but it was what it was and it is better to be on my meds with some extra weight than off of them.

My friend works at a bridal shop and she says this is very common! Its not a big deal-either they try to alter it to fit your weight now or you have 5 months to lose enough weight to fit back into it (which isnt necessarily as much as you lost before). She says the solution is down to the bride and usually requires a bit of both – tailoring to make a bit bigger and losing some weight.

I ordered my dress 1 size smaller as I was determined to lose more weight to fit into it. After 3 months it finally zips! It’s great motivation To lose…

they can always add panels or a corset back to fit you though. Don’t worry, you will not be the only one that this has happened to!
