So, I love my dress. It’s Lis Simon Constance (pictured below). My only concern is that it’s pretty darn heavy! I e-mailed the designer, and they said the dress is about 10 pounds depending on the size (mine is a 6). It seemed a bit heavy when I tried it on, but it was at the end of a whole day of dress shopping. Can anyone out there reassure me that I won’t be dying at the end of the day after wearing a 10 pound dress for nine or ten hours? (Obviously I’m not getting another dress, but I just want some reassurances to help me avoid a little wedding stress!) 🙂

I had the same worry. I fell in love with a Maggie Sottero dress that was lace over satin. It felt like it weighed a million pounds. But because I am getting married in Mexico, that simply would not do. I ended up having my gown custom made to look very similar but have a light, breathable, silk layer underneath instead. Surprisingly, it ended up costing me less than buying the original Maggie would have…
Edit: Sorry that’s probably not reassuring. It depends on what kind of venue you have and what time of year it is. I can’t tell you whether you will be comfortable.

My dress was incredibly heavy during my fittings thanks to the satin and endless beading. I can say with most certainty that on my big day I felt ligther than air and it didn’t even bother me. I was so preoccupied with everything else the weight of my dress (or any discomfort) didn’t even cross my mind.
I think you should be fine. Just invest in a great bra (or build one into the bodice) and ensure a proper fit so that you aren’t tugging it up all evening.

Gorgeous dress! Maybe you can start conditioning yourself by strapping ten pound weights to your body. Good luck 🙂

Is there a train? Maybe you might consider removing it, depending on your venue? That would shed some of the weight.

I feel better! 🙂 I was hoping that I might just not notice the weight because it’s my wedding day. Just knowing one person felt that way gives me hope that I’ll have the same experience. Thanks!
