- Wedding: February 2014
So, I have posted a few times here and I have been on a journey to find “The Dress”. I’ve got it narrowed down some but need some of your opinions and input. All of the dresses are under my dress budget. My main concern is that I want to look amazing and memorable. i want my fiance’s first impression to be “WOW” not “Oh, thats cute” (Which I know I could probably show up in a trash bag and he would still be amazed and love me). I also want all my guests to be wowed and I want to feel just gorgeous. I know it all sounds a bit like I’m full of myself but in real life I rarely get all dressed up, never wear dresses, rarely wear my hair down and I rarely wear make up.
First off, I am having a destination wedding, BUT it will not be on the beach. Instead, on a grassy hilltop
Now that we have the setting, lets start on the dresses.
DRESS 1: Impression Bridal 10175
pros: I feel like I have a “WOW” factor- the slit, the shiny beading and two layers, sweetheart neckline, very light, it would give me more motivation to work out since my leg will show, I feel very pretty in it and its also unique- which describes my personality
Cons: I am a little self conscious about my legs and cankles (yes I said cankles), The belt seems too plain- maybe more blingy flowers? (which may end up costing me another couple hundred dollars. It’s the most expensive of my dress choices, it doesn’t hug my shape the best- but I do need to lose a few lbs and I know it will look better after alterations
DRESS 2: MORI LEE 2909
Pros: My silhouette looks very nice, its very light, beautiful gown, has beautiful beading, I can get this in white and I don’t think it would look cheap or bad, My parents love this gown, it has a corset back which I love, easy to dance in, I look skinny in it
Cons: I wish the neckline was a deep sweetheart and I am not sure if its possible to alter it since it has that beading, also I know this is an older dress but that shouldn’t matter right? I don’t feel very sexy but I do feel pretty. Not sure if it has a “WOW”- what do you think?
DRESS 3: MIDGLEY & SOTTERO- the infamous Adorae
Pros: I feel sexy, my shape looks amazing (or I think it compliments my figure), I love how I look in it, I love the blingy belt, I feel WOW in it, for some reason I keep coming back to this dress in my head- I just don’t know how appropriate it would be for the setting
Cons: Its been done so many times! (But that shouldnt matter right? My guests probably would have no idea- only us bees lol) It is restricting on the legs a bit and I don’t know how that would affect my dancing- especially if we are planning a surprise tango, satin may be too heavy? (I need to go retry this dress on- I think it was a lighter satin or didn’t feel very heavy from what I remember) I would be stuck choosing between white and ivory.
DRESS 4: DAVID’S BRIDAL V3398
Pros: Well, I made the mistake of purchasing this dress the very next day after my first dress shopping experience- so I already have it, but I am going to try to sell it if I find a better one. It is unique. The shoulder strap is very pretty, its very light, the lightest of all the dresses, easy to dance in, easy to move, its a soft white color so I wont have to worry about it not being white enough (since Ivory looks great but can look yellow next to other whites), its starting to grow on me (i’ve put it on a few times since I got it), all of my friends love it on me, it is the cheapest dress out of all my choices.
Cons: I don’t feel WOW in it- I feel pretty but I feel like it would be a bit underwhelming? I think it would be perfect if I were getting married on the sand, but Im not. It looks kind of plain and I just want to look AMAZING- i don’t know if I can pull that off with this gown. I fear that I would end up feeling regret on my wedding day or self-conscious that the dress is a let down? Maybe I am overthinking this.
