@Tess63110:  I used to work in a hotel and BELIEVE me… if something like this happens… you HAVE to show the footage to the client… since the hotel was an all inclusive… we would often get drunk guests doing stupid things to other guests… either way.. part of the procedure was obvious file a police report and they would see the security cameras.

If the hotel was to blame, they would repay the value of the item lost or stolen.

Usually if you complain enough and let them know you WILL more forward with reviews online or etc… they should do something about it 🙂

That is ridiculous. I hope you can get the hotel to show you the footage. I’m so sorry and good luck!

@Tess63110:  I’m really glad that it was stolen AFTER you got to wear it (and get pro pictures in it). That would be terrible if it was the other way around. I plan to TTD and not save another dust collector, so I wouldn’t care. I am sorry that you are upset though 🙁

@Tess63110:  I would be pissed! I would also be pissed at the hotel for not at least looking at footage to show me/police who entered the room. I can understand why they wouldn’t let you view the tapes so that they can help protect other guests privacy, but then at least *they* or the police should be able to view the tapes.

@urchin:  +1 with going to the media, the police won’t help you out much. But I think your local news could make a story out of it.

I’d threaten civil litigation as well as police action (if you can ever get them to act) and call the media. It’ll hopefully scare them into paying out!

They probably don’t want to show you the footage because it shows a worker taking your dress! So sorry this happened! 🙁

What?! This is terrible. At least they waited until after your wedding. Jerks. That’s complete garbage that they won’t let you review the footage. The hotel should find out who did it and go after them. Grrr….

Yeah, you should at least consider going to the media about this (that will cost you nothing, the lawyer would be expensive) and see if they can’t keep your name out of the article for privacy reasons. Sometimes the media solves this crap on their own!

And the police should be working on this one… because what else does that employee have access to? And worse… what if it wasn’t an employee???

@Swizzle:  Probably to get married in (hotel maids don’t tend to be too well off, as a general rule).

Thank god it happened AFTER your wedding! Try to see the bright side of it, it’s probably being put to good use by someone who could never afford such a dress. I’d still be angry that I was stolen from, of course, but I’d at least try to focus on that.
