So I know that my wedding is in October but….
I went to get my dress in Feb, was told it was going to be here in June… well June is almost gone so I called up and was like “So….what’s going on with my dress?” The lady was like “Well we just gave you an estimate, it’s more like August your dress will be here”. Seriously WTF is with that? Is this normal to have your dress come so late? What if I hate it, or doesn’t fit right? When did your dresses come in?

I ordered my dress in November and it just came in last week and I am getting married in August. Maybe this is normal?

Uh oh, now I’m really scared…I ordered my dress in March and they said it would be here in August; the wedding is Sept 18. They also ordered it a size larger than the one i tried on, so I know I’m going to have to get it altered…all I can say is, it better get here on time.
It does seem like they told you about the same timeline…

I was told my dress could take 12 months to come in…holy cow! Luckily I ordered it a little over 13 months out…
You shoud still have plenty of time to make alterations though. 🙂

I ordered my dress in mid-March. They estimated shipping to the store would be late July. I received a call the first week of June that it arrived, and I already had my first fitting last weekend. So you never know – it might be early!

@k8sk8: I wouldn’t worry unless you don’t get it till the END of August then you may be in a bit of a crunch. Most fittings aren’t done WAY before the wedding so they can ensure a proper fit. I think 4 weeks gives them enough time for major alterations and 2 weeks would give them time to adjust fit.

6 months is average I believe depending on the designer. Think of it as less of a storage hassell! 🙂

i was given estimate from 5 to 7 months. i just depends on the store and their supplier. my issue would be that they quoted you as june and it’s pushed back to august. i would ask them why they would estimate on the short end instead of the long end with time. i would also ask why it was an estimate. the boutique i went to said to expect the dress to take 5 months but when i ordered it they gave me the month it was to come in. they weren’t able to give me a day but they said “late june” which was accurate since i just got the “it’s here!” call today.

At least you don’t have to wait to do fittings! You can jump right in.

I ordered mine last month and they told me it would be in about 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding, so I think thats pretty normal.

If it makes you feel better, I ordered mine in early March and had to rush it to get here. It’s supposed to get here 3 weeks before the wedding. My biggest fear is that it won’t get here in time and I’ll have to attempt to buy something off the rack. So don’t worry girls, you are not alone.

I ordered mine in mid-February and received it in late May (they told me early June). My wedding is at the end of July. I had a first fitting 6/15 and my final fitting will be 7/22 (9 days before the wedding). Unless your dress doesn’t come in August OR you need really extensive alterations, you should be fine. There are nice things about not getting your dress too far in advance (they keep it fresh for you and you don’t have to store it, nor will you have time for wavering about your probably perfect choice).

Holy crap!!! When are you supposed to buy a dress??? I thought it only took a couple months

@HoneyBear: I thought the same thing until I went to my first bridal show in February. We got engaged and December and decided we wanted to be married before the Navy gave him his new orders. There I was told I need to hurry up because it took at least 6 months to get one in.
